Keyboard All of a Sudden Not Controlling Sonar

My E-Mu converter has current drivers, is recognized and selected. Sonar plays the songs I've already created and when I insert Synths the demos sound right, so there is no audio issue. However, all of a sudden, my keyboard will not play. It's an Alesis, and I've used it for years. I just had it disconnected for a bit and then hooked it up again expecting to play and...nothing.

Suggestions?

Have you tried just restarting the computer with the keyboard connected? windows has a thing about recognizing hardware but not using it until you restart.
If thats no good try checking if there is any midi coming in at all i think in the bottom right corner by the CPU meter there is a light that blinks when there is midi info being sent into the program.

There's no MIDI at all coming through. When info is coming through, the volume meter on the selected instrument jump accordingly. Nothing.

how do you have the keyboard connected?  via MIDI I/O to a soundcard or USB or what?

what are you trying to play to the keyboard?  MIDI projects, I assume?  did you verify that the outputs of the MIDI tracks are still set to the correct MIDI OUTPUT?

    Beagle,

Thanks for the response. I've got the keyboard connected via EMu Midi/USB connection. It's worked great until now.

I'm just trying to use the keyboard to play the soft synths and virtual instruments in the program. Midi outputs are set to my wavetable.

ok - is the EMU listed as your INPUT on the MIDI tracks?  if not, is it an option to choose?  if not, check the OPTIONS>MIDI DEVICES to make sure it's there.  if it's not there then you have a problem with windows seeing it as a MIDI input device.

if it's there but not checked as an input, make sure you check it and then you should have it available as an input to MIDI tracks.

I've got the EMU checked as my MIDI input. That's what's weird.

I switched out my EMu for a Tascam US-122 and it works. There must be a driver problem with the Emu, even though it says it's all current.

    Junkyard,
I have had the same random problem with my EMU 0404 USB from time to time...in fact that is why I am on the forums again tonight.  Reinstalling the drivers seemed to work last time, as lame as that is.  I'll circle back if I find a different fix this time!

Scratch that -- does not work this time.  I am getting really fed up with these little debug games following any system crash.  Unfortunately it seems to be happening more often lately since i am using more features.

Maybe it is time to buy a Mac.
