music on line

What are possibilities of putting your music on the web... pros and cons?

I've seen Soundclick, SoundCloud, your own web page... what else is there?

thanks
John

I use Soundclick and Reverb Nation.
Soundclick is simple and relatively popular (for other musicans anyway), but the free accounts are limited to 128mb mp3s.  Reverb Nation has higher-quality mp3s allowed, (IIRC it's a filesize-limit, not a compression limit).  But not as many people know it.

I'd set up my own page, but never seem to get around to buying and building it...

Reverb Nation looks like the one for me. Thanks. I mostly want family/friends to see my stuff. Soundclick seems very complicated because of the sales thing and then there are those terrible adds.

I'm leaving soundclick.  I can't stand their advertising and popups that won't go away.

I use soundcloud and I make my own on my website using a software program I bought from internet.

I do have a Soundclick account, but I don't like the site one little bit.

With Mixposure, you get weekly updates about what's new in terms of new bands, site upgrades etc, there are several tiered levels of facilities - the cheapest is free and you go up through Silver, Gold, Platinum etc.

They used to be called iMusicscene but changed a couple of years ago.

Some of these don't seem to have sections for classical or jazz which is what I'm into.

I started a few years ago on Soundclick - but left because of the obnoxious advertisements.

You might also want to check out bandcamp.com.   You can customize your page to make it look like your website - and it's free.

    + 1 on Soundcloud also.

I'm pretty fed up with soundclicks too. I posted a live song I recorded with 1 mike so folks in the song forum could listen. I set it for streaming only because it's not mine. Some internet radio station put it on their playlist? So there's no security somehow as I don't beleive they would have gone to the trouble of recording an audio stream and then e mail me to tell me they stole it.
I also have set up a page for the local choir and right away was getting complaints about some large breasted adds from some of the more proper members. I guess most of us tune that crap out.
I could use my own web site I guess.
I have some songs there that then link to a cloud storage to keep my site from becoming bulky. I found adding MP3's to my site made it slow to synchronize with my editing software.
I think the cloud is the best solution if you want no ****. You wll need your own web site or links through a free " My Space" type acount.

    John,
I too have a SoundClick account - been on there since May.  I got frustrated with the adds as well (they are a product of the "free account") so I upgraded to the "VIP" account (basically $10 a month).  It's been better, but I have to admit as I'm also into jazz and classical as well, the site is thin in that area.
