Output 1/2 drops when using X1 with VS-100

All is fine in my projects when using Sonar VS. I don't have speakers to monitor my output, just monitor through the phones socket (ch 1/2).

However, if i open the same project in X1 I get a notification that VS-100 outputs 1/2 are missing and hence when I playback I get no sound. Switch back to VS and all is right with the world again.

Maybe I should be asking this in the X1 forum... Anyway, anyone have any ideas?

Rob

This can happen if you turn on Sonar before powering up the VS-100. If Sonar doesn't see the VS-100 when it starts up, it loses it's output settings (actually, not just the VS-100, any external audio card that isn't powered up first does this).

Could this possibly be your problem?

Nope, doesn't seem to be. After a fresh reboot, I turn on my VS-100 and hear the be-beep as the comp recognises that it's plugged in and ready for action. Start X1 and then go to open a proj, and it tells me the outputs are missing. This is true of any of my projects. If I close X1 and open the same project in Sonar VS, all is fine, outputs are all there.

It's a mystery to me, but a lot is at the moment. Steep learning curve. Only just upgraded to X1 so there may well be something dumb I'm doing or not doing.

Hmmmm... well I did say I might be doing something dumb. I haven't found the problem with the old VS projects, but creating a new one in X1 identically works OK. Something to do with the way the sound was patched in the old project I guess.

    Thanks anyway,

    Thanks for the updates.

Your old VS projects should still work fine.

It appears you have the VS-100 setup properly in X1 since new projects work. What you need to do with old projects is simply re-route the outputs properly. They might be looking for different driver names or something strange.
