I would like to say one thing to Bapu too...

but man I can babble....

Bapu......I'm done!!!!

I finished the wiring, did the set-up.
I do have to attach the strap pins but I'm waiting.
I need to make a decision first...but that's it!

Thought you may like to see it and it's brother...my very first builds.
Man I'm excited...hope I don't come across like a bozo...
I have to say that bass build was tuff. Way harder than the guitar.

Well if we hear anymore about this project it'll be from Bapu...
I'm done.
Thanks for the support everyone. It made the builds very special to me.
Michael

    Look pretty.

I Am looking forward to hearing Bapu's finding out what Bapu thinks.

    Will you retain visitation rights?

I think bapsi ought to provide a photo of the display cabinet he's buying before you send it too him.

    Look pretty.

I Am looking forward to hearing Bapu's finding out what Bapu thinks.

Thanks everybody. She is a looker.
I'm with you Drew. Naturally I hope it's a fine bass but I'm not a bassist.
It also has a neck carved by the way I think it should feel....
I know it's quiet and plays with no buzz, rattle or fretting issues at all....none.
I also took all relief out...straight as an arrow and it played most excellent.
I did put a little back , .015 and it just seems to me to be excellent.
The nut is made for the Pedulla strings gauge's 45-65-80-100-128- I'm especially
proud of the nut. I do believe any pro luthier would approve of it.

But none of that matters. What Bapu thinks is the real story.
The story isn't told until he plugs it in.
I'm sure looking forward to that. My biggest concern is the shape of the neck.
We were limited to size of his hands....I believe mine are very close to his
but that really isn't much to go on when shaping a neck for somebody.

Weight is always an issue. This thing is BIG. That's one reason I'm hesitant on just
putting the strap pins on. I think the end pin should be higher than center to
counter neck weight so it will naturally sit upward much like a classical guitarist.
I'd hate for the pin to have to relocated and leave a hole....best guess at location
is all I really know to do...so we'll see about that too.

    Thanks again guys.

What kind of wood did you use for the one on the right?  They're both gorgeous, but she's an especially good-looker.  :-)

    Thank you guys.
Janet the one on the right is the bass for Bapu.
The woods are purpleheart and maple.

Man it's starting to feel like it could be the sequel to the Hindenberg.
The only thing I have to compare it to is my Geddy Lee and it feels
kinda like a toy after playing this monster.
I watched Kick-Ass...it got me fired up so I put the strap pins on.
Now it's what it is waiting on case.
It was fun but glad it's done.

    Thanks Bubba!
I'm like Bapu...I hope it sounds and plays
half as good as it looks.

One thing I'd change is the bridge. I really like that new style of individual
pieces. Probably a hassle to install but I think they'd be the ultimate in tone.
And they look wonderful. Here is a link if ya'll haven't seen them.
There is a ground wire under the bridge I used. I'm not sure how they
handle grounding these....yet. If I hadn't already drilled a hole for the
ground I would have made the change. (didn't want filling to show)

I personally like my Geddy Lee much more and it doesn't look bad either. -seriously.
There is a high probablity that Bapu may too.
