X1b: Has your bug(s) been fixed?

With all of the bug fixes and updates listed in X1b, the question is has your bug(s)/issue(s) been address so far in the X1b patch list?

I still don't see the fix for the automation crash with Modfilter and Bitfactor.

Hard to tell....from the list I suspect not.

I can't see any mention of fixing a bug with layered MIDI clip velocity envelopes.

    This.

I'm still waiting for: "Fixed an issue causing SONAR to crash when reading automation applied to Alias Factor"

Impossible to tell until I've installed the update and see what's really what.--

Well they listed the ability to reorder tracks.  That one is huge for me so I can use my Mackie during mixing ! ! !

My issues are more with design decisions than bugs. I don't expect to see resolutions until X2 at the earliest.

    +1 ;___;

How could some of this stuff go past testing phases...

There are a lot of reasons.  One of the problems with software development is that the testers "know" how to use it.  They are unlikely to hit that combination of buttons that will cause a crash whereas an end user blindly pushes buttons until they either get the result they want or crash.

Another issue has to do with time.  Even with a beta test cycle how many people can you get in on the testing and how many hours can you expect from them.  And at what point does diminishing returns set in.  I am sure that the bakers thought they were putting out a solid product.

Finally on any major rewrite there are so many moving parts that the testing may have been very thorough on the unit level, but the kind of bugs we are seeing can then turn up during the integration phase.

Should the testing have been better?  Sure, of course, we all would like to see a perfect product each time.  But even NASA doesn't always get it right.  I would hope that for the next major release Cakewalk expands their beta tester base to include the folks here that complained the loudest.  That way we know who to throw rocks at next time.

    Best regards, -Harry

Included several general stability improvements when working with V-Vocal.

That is just too vague to determine if the bug that I experience has been fixed or not

Oh and there's no mention of the CD burning facility which at the moment can put together a playlist but does absolutely zilch beyond that....

Roll on X1C - perhaps X1 will do what it claims then....until then CW are misrepresenting the product which in the UK is a criminal offence.

Here are a couple minor bugs that I'm experiencing that don't currently appear on the list:

    • Audio glitching (occasionally will even dropout) during Auto-save
    • Default screenset not displaying properly on initial load of my normal.cwt template. If I immediately go to another screenset and then back to the default screenset, the windows are then positioned correctly.

My pet peeve bugs, MIDI crosstalk and its related bugs, are finally being fixed.

One thing that I don't think is being fixed, although one can argue it isn't a bug, is that I wish I could unlink the MIDI mute/solo from the audio tracks' mute/solo buttons. Muting/unmuting MIDI tracks make some MIDI plugins get out of sync, not to mention cutting notes short which will then not play correctly once the track is unmuted again. Since you can't "hear" MIDI, there is absolutely no need to mute MIDI tracks whatsoever when muting the audio track. Just give me the following option:

[x] Don't mute MIDI tracks when muting/soloing audio tracks.

Then MIDI tracks always stay unmuted and things never get out of sync since the VSTi will always be processing the correct stream of uninterrupted MIDI events.
