"Stay Even" by Port St Willow - new mix by me

Here's a new mix. I'm only 5 hours in, but I'm going to do the rest tomorrow.

You can listen to my mix here:

or directly download it here:

This mix was a little challenging because the recordings were all very noisey and crackly. Most of the guitar tracks had massive crackles. The unmixed version sounds like this:

Enjoy.

Need a song, demo or album mixed to sound great? Why waste weeks or months learning how to mix when I'm sure you'd rather spend your time writing songs and performing gigs? I can mix your tracks so that they sound fantastic. My rates are very affordable. Send me a PM to find out more.

I tried to listen, but that drum track was so obnoxious I had to close it :-( It would have been cool maybe for like 2 measures? But it kept going :-(

I actually liked the drum track. It's different.

I did some neat things with the drums. I put them in stereo. In some parts, there's actually a left, right and center overhead, room, snare, kick, etc.

I really dressed up the snare by adding distrotion, 2 delays and a big reverb (all subtle). It fits this sort of tune really well I think. The dry snare was really bland and was kind of damp and not open.

It could be a little loud - I dunno. I haven't checked with headphones yet on anything - just monitors. Seems fine to me a low and high volumes though.

Anyway, that's what the artist played ;)

The drums a bit too loud.  Otherwise great job on the arrangement with Radiohead with a bit of Coldplay influences.

Nice vocal. the drums do get a little old though. It might work if there were a real drummer playing it and adding some interest here and there. Or something else playing that rhythm.
