No Blank Template

Hi

In the scheme of things this is a minor problem but hey.... When I open a new project in X1 Producer there is no option to use a blank template. When I create a blank template from one of the other templates there is no option to save it as a blank template. Any ideas???

Blank templates behave badly in X1. I don't know if they'll be available in X1b or not. So far no mention in the update list.

For some reason X1 needs at least one audio or MIDI track in order to play nice with Screen Sets for one, and I'm not sure what other functions don't work so well in a truly blank template.

i am puzzled by this as well. I prefer to use a blank template when starting a new project. I noticed while watching Eli Krantzberg's tutorials explaining x1 the BLANK TEMPLATE option is there. would be nice to have it.

Eli used a different version of X1 than the one we have.

If you create a template with a single Audio track, go to track manager 'H' and un-check that track, it won't show. Save as template and you have a virtual blank track. Seems like since Eli had it, as well as a functioning Audio Snap, that it can't be that hard to implement but we'll see.

Aside from the screen set problems HumbleNoise pointed out Choose "File/Save As" then from the "Save as type" drop down choose Template.

    Hi All,

It was no video trick. It was in fact something that was available in that pre release beta version of X1 that I was using when I made the Sonar X1 Explained videos.

I'm currently working on a follow up series, and was surprised to find that there was no "Blank" template available anymore. But like Larry says, it's not surprising that Sonar requires some sort of minimum configuration for a project to be created. Sonar isn't the only app to do this. Logic does this as well. As does Garage Band. It's the price we have to pay for some of the new ease of setup features. I can live with it.  I suspect some of it may have to do with the "Preview" architecture in the Browser; but I don't know for sure.

I guess I assumed that the blank template is what you got when you hit cancel on the project dialog that comes up when you start X1P.  So that is what I've been using.   Obviously that does not work....

I noticed that a blank template was missing as an option in X1 as well.
So....  I created my own template and called it "Blank (No Tracks)" and it works just fine.
Save it in the same directory as the other default Templates and it shows up in the - Play List Set - as a choice just like it did in 8.5.3.

    J.

The only problem I found was if you wanted to use/save Screen Sets. A blank template messes with them, otherwise it is as easy as you stated.

Ok, thats cool no blank template in X1. So why does the installed tutorials tell you to use something that isn't there?

Adding an instrument track to your project
Adding instrument tracks to your project is easy and something you’ll find yourself doing often, so let’s explore some of the basics. For this exercise, we'll start with a blank project:
    1.
On the File menu, click New.

    2.
Select the Blank (no tracks or buses) template and click OK.
