Panning MIDI

Panning doesn't seem to work on MIDI tracks.  I get the same result no matter how right or left I move the slider.  Am I missing something simple here, or is it a more complicated process?

I've never tried. I always do panning on the audio output track. Midi just doesn't behave at all like audio, so I take the easy way out. There are MIDI commands for panning, though, so there should be a way, an easy one even.

Are you using a soft synth or a VST as the output of the MIDI? If so, could it be the target can't handle the panning?

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre  -  Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc.
