X1 and Abnormal Program Termination

Hi folks... it's been a while!

So, I decided to upgrade to X1 to keep somewhat current... I found that I was happy with Sonar 7 Producer, but I didn't want to get too far behind the times so I dropped the cash to upgrade to X1.

Obviously I'm not going to jump in without testing and waiting for patches, but I did install it just to check it out.

Like others (which I see on the board here), I am now having an issue with my previous version of Sonar 7. I get the "C++ runtime error" or "Abnormal program termination" when I'm doing some clip edits and record or delete clips. I haven't exactly nailed it down, but I was working in a project that has had no issues at all, and now I can make it crash within 30 seconds of opening it by just clicking around and recording small pieces, arming and disarming the track, etc.

Naturally, this led me home to you folks... and I see that I am not alone here...
I see that there is some thought that the SonitusFX Delay might be the issue, so I pulled out my Sonar7 DVD and installed only the FX Delay. This didn't seem to help, I've gone back and forth with the 2 versions (one from S7, the other from SX1). The date codes on the files are the same, so I'm not sure that it is the cause... but who am I to say?

I created a restore point, so I can go back, but I'd really just like to fix the glitch in S7 and keep waiting for the X1b patch.

If it truly is just the FX Delay, are there any other digital delay plugins that can be set to tempo-based and won't cost much? I'm really used to the Sonitus Delay, so anything similar would be preferred...

Also I'm looking for anyone who has solved this.

Thanks forumites!

You can use the older version of the Sonitus delay .dll to fix the delay problem.

My dog caught 2 turtles on Saturday... I was thinking of you.

We took the turtles and moved them over the fence line... so they could stay close to their territory yet be a bit safer.

    HA!
    Hi Mike.

Where would I get this older version of Sonitus Delay? I installed just the Delay from my Sonar7 DVD and that didn't seem to change anything...

Maybe I'm looking in the wrong spot.... I was looking in C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins\

    Is that right?

    Thanks!

Okay, I think I have it working.
I don't know if Sonar7 wasn't overwriting the DLL properly or not... so I just went in and renamed the Delay DLL before trying the S7 install again.
S7 then put the old file back like it should have been... I think it's stable again...

    *fingers crossed*

    Thanks for the assistance Mike
