SD3 and step sequencer

I had started a drum track using PRV but then watched Seth's videos on creating with the step sequencer and wanted to try to tweak what I already have.
I opened up the step sequencer but see nothing there...should I or does one have to start with the sequencer to do this?

    You can create a step sequence form a MIDI track - right click and look for the option. And you can bounce a Step Sequence to a MIDI track.
