Hey Scott, will your book get into details like how to insert a volume envelope?

It seems like the 1850 page reference guide should mention it (there are 6 references to "volume envelope" but it doesn't state how to insert one) but I can't find it when searching for "volume envelope".
I've right clicked the track thinking it would be in that menu... then selected the track and went to the insert menu...nada...will someone please enlighten me?!
Thanks,
Randy

    Hi Randy,

Yes, SONAR X1 Power ( http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks ) has an entire chapter covering automation and working with envelopes.

You need to use the track's Edit Filter control and choose Automation > Volume, which will automatically add a volume envelope to the track as well as put that track into automation editing mode.

    Scott,

Will there be X1b updates for the book or will they be included somehow?

Will there be a Kindle version?

I just decided I'm buying it.

Randy, Once you have automation on any track you can shift click the bottom of the track to get back to clip mode and then shift click on any automation line to edit that automation. Alt click adds nodes when you're in automation mode.

"Edit Filter" is a better search term in the manual.

I've read in earlier posts that he will have an errata on his website to cover any changes that might be introduced by X1b (or X1c). I'm sure Scott will confirm this, but thought I would mention it in case this thread slips through the cracks.

EDIT: Here is the link to where I got that info. If you read his previous post on the same link, it's shows the TOC, or sample of it!

hahaha...that was my next question actually...I was trying to slip edit the new clip and selected clip again from the edit filter and then to get back to add volume nodes I clicked volume envelope again and added yet another envelope and figured ah man, this can't be right!
    Thanks very much Larry!

    Hey A1,

Yep, I did anticipate some of the X1b changes, but (like Sean mentioned -- thanks, Sean!) there will also be an errata page on my site.

And yes, there will definitely be an eBook (Kindle) version that can be viewed on a variety of devices. Amazon is working on getting the Kindle page up and it should be there soon. I'll be updating my site with a link as soon as the Kindle page is up.

    Thanks!
    Scott

Does the book purchase price include the kindle version or is that separate?

    Hey A1,

No, each edition is separate. If you purchase the print edition, you get the print edition only. If you purchase the eBook (Kindle) edition, you get that edition only.

It works just like all the other books for sale on the Amazon site.

    Thanks!
