transposing audio
If I select a vox audio clip, then process>transpose, then enter 1 in the amount, check the transpose audio box and select "radius solo (vocal)" then hit OK, it shows it processing to 100% and then turns to a flat line and shows busy (waited over 20 minutes). Is this user error? Thanks, Randy

Do you mean the clip's waveform is showing as a flat line and showing the word "busy"? I've had similar problems in 8.5 (I'm still waiting for X1 to settle down before upgrading). My solution has been to select the clip and "bounce to clip". This forces Sonar to redraw the waveform and usually results in retrieving the waveform.

Do you "bounce to clip" after or before transposing? Thanks, Randy

When I opened the project this morning I got a fatal error stating "cakewalk\shared utilities\internal\PCS-CakeSM.dll" I closed it and re-opened and it opened/played fine but all of the vox have a flatline graphically. Anyone tell me what's going on and why the transposing (1/2 step up) won't work? Thanks, Randy

Can someone tell me how to rebuild the wav forms/audio peaks in these clips please? I can't find anything in the manual EDIT: never mind I was able to do it by converting to stereo and then converting back to mono...but maybe someone has a suggestion on transposing it?

g_randybrown If I select a vox audio clip, then process>transpose, .... I tried this and got a similar error. In the past I have always right clicked a clip then PROCSS EFFECT/AUDIO EFFECTS/CAKEWALK/TIME-PITCH STRETCH 2... That seems to work pretty well.

Well I tried that and now have no sound from that clip....weird eh? The one clip I did this to had no sound after doing it so I did an undo and still nothing while other clips in the same track play. I can see the peaks ok but there's no sound now....I suppose I could take all these clips into Sony Vegas but damn what a PITA you would think Sonar could handle something as simple as this! Thanks though SH, Randy

Randy, there are a couple of other recent threads on pitch shifting, and there are several ways to do it, so maybe check out some of the other methods to see if less buggy for you. One way to do it is to right click on the part in the track view. Then choose Process effect/Audio effect/Cakewalk/Time-Pitch Stretch 2. Not sure if that is what you were doing? You can also use v-vocal. Check out the other threads too.

You can also try emptying your picture cache. That will force Sonar to redraw all the waveforms.

There are a couple of functions that I run into this problem that empting the pic cache solves.
