Transposing vocal tracks?

Gents,
Finishing up a project and have been asked to provide some really high 3rd part vocal harmonies on it. I can hit the notes, no problem, but its a lot of wear and tear on the old cords and frankly, I don't get paid til we're actually in the studio,SO:

Is there any way I can lower the pitch of the guide instrumental track, sing to it, then put everything back to normal? If it sounds a little "affected" I don't care, might actually add a little something to the mix...

Thanks in advance for any help, and no, i didn't search first, I apologize!

use the cakewalk pitch-shifter plugin on the whole mix (lower it two or three half steps and sing along).

Then, take the plugin off the whole mix and put it on your vocals but RAISE it however much you had lowered the track.

For your purposes, this will be easiest.

Thanks so much JW, a half step will be enuff but more options are always better! Where would I locate this pitch shifter? the music track is just a stereo dub, is the pich shifter like a VST plug in?

Sorry for sounding stupid!

Hi there

I agree with Blix. always rememebr with vocal or wave transposing. I find that one tone up or down is max without the "woody woodpecker" or "Frankenstien" effect. In truth sonar actually does an excellent job, and in some cases I have pushed it to tone and half. It does start sounding a little funny though. if you start running into these, you can get away with layering the vocal and mixing the transposed vocal down a little.

Michael, there are a few ways to change pitch in X1. Check out this thread: http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2244346
One way to do it is to right click on the clip you want to transpose in track view. Then choose Process effect/Audio effect/Cakewalk/Time-Pitch Stretch 2.  You can also use v-vocal.
