If you want the drums to sound differently, you have to select a different kit. For example, in the TTS-1, patch 1 is a GM Kit, 17 is a Power kit, etc. There are also Orchestral, Analog, Jazz, etc. kits. Session Drummer also has different kits you have to load. The drum map is just a way to assign a particular sound to a MIDI note from the list of available sounds in the drum kit.
