Newbie Help with Drum Map

Hi, brand new here. Recently got Sonar 7 Producer edition. No experience with this kind of thing :)
 
Anyway, I've fudged my way through creating Midi tracks, and recording audio tracks, which is all good.. However having some problems with Drum Maps.
 
I open up a midi track to create a drum track, choose new drum map from the outputs drop-down, choose one I like the sound of, then start creating a drum track (usually using piano roll)... the problem is that no matter what drum map I choose I get the same drum sounds to choose from... sometimes some of the drum types are silent, sometimes the names of the types are changed, but the actual sounds themselves are all from the same "set"... What am I doing wrong? I'd like a bit more variety to choose from in terms of drum sounds.. cheers for the help!

Ooooh, plugins. So All I'm doing is changing the names of the drums when I change the kit via the "new drum map" option in the output drop down?

So I need to go away and read about plugins to work out how to do it...

If I have this whole huge list of different drum maps, does that mean that I have the plugin/s I would need to populate these lists with the appropriate sounds somewhere?

If you want the drums to sound differently, you have to select a different kit. For example, in the TTS-1, patch 1 is a GM Kit, 17 is a Power kit, etc. There are also Orchestral, Analog, Jazz, etc. kits. Session Drummer also has different kits you have to load. The drum map is just a way to assign a particular sound to a MIDI note from the list of available sounds in the drum kit.
