metronome

is anyone having trouble with cakewalk throwing it self out time when you record another track with one you've already recorded about half way through cakewalk goes out of time as if it's trying to switch time. you are in one time when you start the first recording, then the second recording start's to slow up or jump around on you. I have cakewalk x1, running on widows 7 amd 64 x 2, in a hp pavilion slimeline 7700n pc, using a m-audio fasttrack interface. Have any ideas help

    Have you checked to ensure there aren't multiple tempos in the song (via tempo view)?
    Is it a drastic change (e.g. like a tempo change) or is it latency?
