fireface uc question
hello with my new fireface uc, when I click on the input monitoring button, there is a delay before the signal (guitar) is audible with my delta 66 there was no delay not really a problem but could you confirm this ?

Adjust your buffer size in the ASIO control panel. If there is a delay, it is because this is set high.

asio is set at 64 samples, even at 48 I get the same delay if I enable input monitoring during playback, there is silence then it is audible again (sorry for my english)

verify that you have only the fireface listed as RECORDING and PLAYBACK DEVICES in the OPTIONS>AUDIO

do you mean that the entire project delays temporarily or that there's an audible echo when you use the ECHO INPUT?

Beagle do you mean that the entire project delays temporarily or that there's an audible echo when you use the ECHO INPUT? no, there is only a small silence when I click the input monitoring button (the project does not stop) I will try to make a video ...

ok - that's not due to latency. you can try enabling READ and WRITE cache in the preferences. you didn't say which version of sonar you have so I don't know which way to tell you to find it. OPTIONS>AUDIO>ADVANCED (I think) for Sonar 8.5 and below. "P" on the keyboard and then click on SYNC AND CACHING for X1.

That delay looks like Sonar might be closing or opening the audio (input) driver when you disable or enable input monitor. The driver has a lot to say about how long that will take. Maybe it would work better to do this: Edit > Preferences > Audio - Playback and Recording (or is it 'P' > Audio - Playback and Recording. ?) ... and Select the Always Open All Devices check box. as bvideo suggests it might not be possible to get rid of this problem because of the way the soundcard drivers are written. if they wrote the soundcard drivers to "reset" on rerouting the monitoring then you won't be able to resolve it. maybe someone else who has this unit can confirm or deny that this happens to them as well. if so, it's not likely you'll get it resolved because it looks like it's a driver issue.

Hi wilko This is a known driver issue - RME are aware of it - it affects both the FFUC and FFUFX. The thread below is from the RME forum http://www.rme-audio.de/forum/viewtopic.php?id=10079 -> in particular Post #4 and Post #5 Looks like a fix is not scheduled for a little time yet, but they are aware of it. I am having similar issues and others with X1 and my Fireface 800. Am I crazy, or did I have more options previously in my audio panel with the 800? I currently cannot change the bit rate and my preferences in X1 will not allow bit rate, buffer number or size changes in the ASIO driver. If I switch to WDM the mentioned settings become selectable (bit rate, buffer number and size). Also, my audio panel reverts to 44K sample rate every time I apply changes in X1. Something wrong here? I have been getting some long latencies and digital distortion with even one track of audio recording at low gain settings. Maybe I should have started a new thread for this, but you referenced an RME thread I looked at (among others) in researching these issues.

Adjust your buffer size in the ASIO control panel. If there is a delay, it is because this is set high.
