First things I'd check if you haven't already is your scan paths and also have a look to see what, if any are excluded.

i have even got to a point where i installed the vst on the desktop in a folder and had sonar scan that path and it doesn't see. it. I mean its like at this point 8 or 8.53 has nothing to do with it you know. it should just see it im telling it where to look.

Have you got "re-scan failed plugins" & "re-scan existing plugins" checked in the options? Did you check the excluded plugs if any?

If you're left with a botched (remaining) install... I'd suggest doing a full/manual uninstall of Sonar (including removing all associated folders and registry entries)... and then doing a reinstall of X1.

That'll get you back to a full/clean install of X1

i had the same problem,a lot of the plugins are not 64bit yet,  had to use 32bit x1 in my 64bit os. hopefully the plugins will catch up with 64bit  soon!!!

I don't believe you are supposed to remove the other installs. That is the problem. I bet if you reinstall your other versions you should be ok. The same this happened if you had 8.0 you could not delete it. You had to put in 8.5.3.

I did a "clean" install of X1 - uninstalled 8.5.3 (and 8.0) rebooted the PC then installed X1.  It works but with all the bugs I've reinstalled 8.0/8.5.3 and am using it until the "b" update is issued.  I'll work with X1 after that and try to make it work.

I tried X1a again yesterday and clicked on a drop down menu and the program went to "not responding".  I've got a recording session scheduled Thursday with a semi-retired Nashville songwriter and I'm going to use 8.5.3.

Well, you are using 64 bit right? Maybe Sonar isn't recognizing some of your plug ins because they are 32 bit, no?

Sonar has some ****ed limit on the number of plugins you are allowed to have. Do you have a lot of plugins?

According to Cake this is not supposed to be the case. You should be able to remove the previous versions.
According to reality it does seem to cause problems for some.

i have had better luck than most and it might very well have to do with the fact i dont have 8.0-8.5.3 installed.you dont need to have it installed as one user said.i think on user said something very smart..are you trying to use 32x plugs on a 64x system

Personally, I think it's safer to uninstall 8.x before installing X1.   That way none of the shared stuff is removed from an already existing X1 installation.   I don't think there's anything in 8.x that isn't already in X1... is there?

Are you looking for older DXi plugins? They won't play with X1 64 bit.

The Lexicon Pantheon Reverb is not in X1.
