Problem with X1a and Kontakt 4...

I finally got around to installing the Kontakt 4.2.2 update today, but now every project which utilizes Kontakt has this strange thing going on:

http://www.supload.com/listen?s=ZCELlb" None of the audio preferences in Sonar or Kontakt are different. Gigabyte EX58-DS4, i7 920, 4GB RAM, Windows 7 Pro 32-bit, Presonus Firestudio, Sonar X1a Producer, Kontakt 4.2.2

The problem occurs on every project with Kontakt, and on different instruments...

    Wow that's weird! Sounds like the disk with your samples isn't doing it's thing. I had my samples on a "Green" disk and got the same artifacts, although it wasn't a constant sound like I'm hearing here.

    Have you tried turning off the Direct From Disk (DFD) feature for Kontakt or an instrument? You should find it in the preferences dialogue. If the problems disappear after loading the samples into RAM then perhaps your disk can't stream the samples fast enough to Kontakt's liking.

    Thanks, I'll try that, but this problem only occurred after I installed the 4.2.2 update - before that there were no problems. I have 3 HDDs - one for OS, one for samples, one for audio - all WD Caviar Blacks, so I really don't think that is the problem...

    That only makes it weirder;)

    I haven't installed the update yet my self, but if Kontakt has changed the way it handles DFD then perhaps this could be a new problem, a bug perhaps? Have you checked the Native Instruments forums for reports on similar problems?

    I've had a look on the NI forum and couldn't find anyone with a similar issue. I'll try turning DFD off tomorrow when I'm at the studio and see if I can narrow down the problem...

    Yeah, I couldn't find anything either.

    Well, good luck. Let's hope it's nothing serious

    Try moving the buffer. I had this happen to me. I believe this will solve this problem.
