Restore Metronome

Hi.

I don't know why but I was nostalgic for Project 5 and so I installed it. It stills works great but now the metronome in X1 and the one in 8.5 don't work. How can this be rectified?

    bump,

Sorry to bore you with this but I can't get the darned thing to go. Perhaps I'll need to reformat my computer or something. Yes, I know I can just roll out a drum loop but I like the sonar metronome. I use the stock standard audio one.

dont go formating anything yet..hold on..this happen to me last night when i  did something to my x1 by resetting it settings...go to the preference menu....under the metrodone setting..there is a setting for having the click either in audio..or midi...you want it in audio..but there is also a spot to assign the place the metrodone is routed to..it needs to be routed to master.chancer are its not..it may be routed to...(none)..click it..try it..and see how if it works..not sure why this resets but it did with me.

check it out..go to preferences..then go down to metrodone..under the "audio metrodone menu" you will see these options...first beat-click it and set it to:ping hi..underneather the next option-other beats..set this to ping low...(notice next to these two options there is a place to set the volume..the last option is-output..you need to set this to either your master or audiointerface output(if you dont..you wont hear anything)..finally in the main sonar view..in the top control bar right next to the playback controls you NEED to have the metrodone active..if not,you wont hear squat..now listen..if this dont work..i dont know what to tell you man..ive given you everything you need to start a small metrodone village..best of luck.let me know how good it works, then i will accept your thanks    :)

I think the most common cause of a non-working metronome is problems with GroovePlayer.dll (typically installed in ..\Shared DXi\Groove Player).  What often happens is that someone will clean out the stuff that they "aren't using" and kick this to the curb...and then wonder why their metronome quits working.  (This dll is what SONAR uses to render the audio metronome.)  It's possible that your Project 5 installer installed an old version of of that dll that no longer works at all with SONAR.  (I think there were major changes to GroovePlayer.dll in the 8.5 cycle to address long standing problems.)

Try going back and installing just the Groove Player from your X1 installation media and see if that fixes it.

But...before you do that...do as the previous poster suggested and make sure the audio metronome output is routed correctly.  That is to say that it might have nothing to do with Project5.  (I hear that the metronome rerouting issue may be finally resolved in the upcoming X1b patch.)

AAAAAAAAAA, Dantarbill - that's precisely what I did.

I uninstalled Groove Synchronization (Came with Microsoft Office Suite) could that have been the reason for my silent metronome

(By the way I checked the routing - it's solid)
