Sonar 7 Producer Tempo adjustment problems

Hi! Am a new Sonar user and have imported a midi file into Sonar 7 Producer. Am attempting to adjust the tempo in a few spots, by using the Tempo window.  I've reassigned a portion of the track to a slower tempo, and it definitely appears at a slower tempo marking, but when I play the file, no tempo change is heard (i.e the entire file plays at the original faster tempo).  Any hints greatly appreciated!

Alt 9  or Views Tempo, brings up the tempo map. But this is all you will get, Sometimes things remain hidden still and cause the issue you describe..
I myself have always had trouble removing certain things like hidden patch changes, tempos etc  from MIDI files I download.  I gave up on Sonar and now just open the song in a free sequencer called Power Sequencer , it's event list will show you everything including any tempo changes that where embedded. I clean the song up in a few seconds and re-save then I open it with Sonar. It's best to Open a MIDI file and not import it that way all the info is brought in.
