Dimensiion Pro with X1 - sanity at risk

Despite repeatedly installing the Dimension Pro 1.5 update from the Cakewalk website, I can't install the version of DimPro that comes with X1. Every time I attempt to run the setup program I get the following message:

"The installer has detected that a previous version of Dimension Pro is currently installed. Please download the 1.5 update from www.cakewalk.com"

As I say, I have run the 1.5 update several times. It has completed successfully on each occasion.

I have just done a complete format and reinstall on a system that had 8.5.3 and X1 working perfectly together. This problem didn't manifest itself the first time I installed X1.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I'm pretty sure this is telling you that you already have the latest update.  If you kept Dim Pro updated before X1, then there is nothing new for you!

do a forum search, this is a known issue and there are old Dimension Pro files that have to be renamed in order for the install to go in, I just don't recall the exact steps.

If 1.5 is installed and working, you should be good to go.

Yeh, On the intial install of X1 this is a known prob that has to be addressed in the Registry files. Call tech support and the will fire you an email with the steps to edit and fix. Mine was the same and fix was fast and easy by their email.  Good Luck

PS-Here is a posting of same prob & fix.  Pay attention to the registry/.dll postings about halfway down

Fixed it. Had to manually go through my disk drives and the registry deleting every file and reference to Dimension Pro. Then I just installed the version that comes with X1.

    What a pain.

Congrats, for me it was a piece of cake once through the registry file editing. Everything dropped and loaded fast and simple.  Glad to hear.

Cakewalk really needs to re-vamp the install/upgrade process for Dimension.
It's a real mess and it writes crap all over the registry for some odd reason.

    Intel i7 950 3.06ghz 6 GB DDR3 1333(1066) OCZ memory
    Gigabyte X58A-UD3R v.2.0

So does Dimension Pro that's included with X1 already include the [Free Dimension Pro Expansion Packs 1-3 or do they have to be downloaded?

1 and 2 were old ones, I think. But Exp 3 is very important, for me anyway. It contains all bass sounds and they are in TUNE.
They should put a stciky up somewhere and tell folks "not" to use the dim pro on the x1 disks unless you have to.
