You know you are getting old when...

Last night I gave a presentation to a local university's MBA class on what the world of the stock market and investment banking were like (my career - ugh).

Someone said "What made you leave Electronics Engineering to go into Investment Banking?"

And I said "in the 80s, I dreamed of having breakfast with Boesky and cookies with Milken" - A line I stole from the 80s guy episode of Futurama.

Dead silence.  Bewildered faces.

said "uh Ivan Boesky - the guy that got busted for insider trading?  Michael Milken - the junk bond dealer that got busted giving him info? - late 80s?"

I got "Oh, I was 4 in 1989."

OK.

I actually tried to get into Forex trading, even passed level one of the charted market technicians course, but I could never consistantly make money.   So at least for the time being I'm back to mainly fundamental anlaysis with a hint of technical for timing purposes on my stock positions.

Would that be 'years old' or 'stone'?

Coincidentally, we had a rhythm and blues* band here in Worcester called 36 Stone - I bet Eric can remember them. My mate Rob Turner was lead singer - he wasn't a bad snooker player either.

Sadly, I knew immediately to whom you were referring.  But on the bright side, my long term memory seems to be intact.
