I'm cogitating on this one. I just got the FG-X and have not installed it yet. I downloaded the demo of VCC. Gonna play with them both this weekend.

I just got my flyer too. I'm in on the Beta deal from a ways back so I've already got my new Ilok and am just waiting on the final release to be sent. One very interesting thing about my heads up from Slate was that the pictures they include all show "all six" of the original consoles...not just the 4 in the beta. Hope this is correct.

Hello guys.. This was just written by Sonar user Bryan K who is using VCC without issue, hope it helps: For Sonar 8.5 (64 bit) users..... You really should be installing All plugins in the 64bit OS folder system, for all plugins.....not just VCC. It doesnt matter if the plugin is 64 or 32bit, just install it under the 64bit OS folder tree. You must remember.....Sonar 8.5 has the bitbridge system that allows 32bit plugins in a 64bit platform/system. I have ALL my plugins in the 64 OS folder tree for ALL my plugins.....doesnt matter if they are 32 bit or 64 bit plugs......they all work fine for me. just food for thought...... I find it MUCH easier to do this, and create your own folder called "PLUGINS" under the 64OS folder, and install all your plugins there. This way.....you can direct Sonar to scan this single plugin folder whenever you have installed new plugins....instead of trying to have to scan all over your system trying to find things...

Steven and Cakewalkers, The above may be good advice in general for organizing plugins, but I believe it has nothing to do with how well VCC will run or not in Sonar. I've been a VCC beta user from first release. Beta 2.5 has worked flawlessly in Sonar 8.5.3. To let the dust settle with the new release, I waited until 1.06, the second update of 1.0. Byran K on Gearslutz reported all was working perfectly for him on 8.5. I however have had problems. It was in response to my posted issues on Gearslutz that Bryan K gave the response that Steven posted above. Using bitbridge, VCC will not open any project file that has VCC beta on it. Using jbridge, VCC will open, but I have some GUI problems and meters don't work. I reorganized all plugs into Programs 64bit folder but still had the exact same issues. Placing VCC (or any other plugs, Soundtoys for example) in either 32 or 64 bit folders allows Sonar Plugin Manager to find them. That's all that matters as far as Sonar "cares." Here is the only way it works on my system: On a new project file or a file with all VCC removed--Mixbuss and Channel--I can open VCC Mixbuss with bitbridge and everything works great--meters, GUI, saved settings. VCC Channel, however, WILL NOT load using bitbridge but will load with jbridge leaving no meters, GUI issues, and no saved settings. I have submitted a ticket at Slate Support. I have to say I have only good things to say about Steven, Slate Support, and VCC. Man man man VCC does sound GREAT. Can hardly wait for all issues and 64bit to be resolved/released! Anyone else having issues with VCC in Sonar 8.5? Incidentally, I run AMD phenom ii 940 quad core 8 gb ram ddr2 Windows 7 64 Sonar 8.5.3 64 WD caviar blue 80 gb systems drive (crappy slow, waiting for 120 gb ssd to drop price anytime now....... c'mon, anytime now....) seagate barracuda 320 gb ST3320620AS 7200rpm. (I soon update both drives.) Peace, Perry

perple Anyone else having issues with VCC in Sonar 8.5? +1, yes . The beta worked great as far as cpu & x64 but v1.06 doesn't work well at all. I had to switch to x86 which crashes & the cpu is much higher. Several issues include opening the channel will crash Sonar, typing names in tracks, busses doesn't work, the track names are number's not track names like I've seen in other DAWS. I need the x64 version back as well, can't run very many instances using x86 v1.06 P.S. changing the vst folder doesn't matter, not the issue & the only plug in my system that behaves this way.

Kroneborge I was thinking of giving this a try, but might wait a bit longer. Is everyone happy with how it sounds? Sound is... un-fu-king-believable, IMHO. It is one of those things that once used, I can't go back. Kinda not easy to describe (warmer, more open, rounder, deeper, aliver, blah blah blah...) just simply... can't do without. Slate Digital VCC Review Youtube The only reason to not wait is that until Friday of this week, Slate is giving a free iLok 2 (required to use VCC) with purchase of VCC. You could buy and just wait to use till 64bit is released--supposedly "within 30 days" as of early March release date (can't remember precisely)--altho Slate has a way of...well, dragging out releases. And to be fair, the programming they are doing with VCC appears to be exceptionally complex so it does take time. 64bit beta was completely stable on Sonar 8.5 64bit for me, no reason to doubt the final 64bit will not be as stable. The recent releases that are 32bit sound significantly better even than the beta versions. Can hardly wait for 64bit. Call me sold.

I will definitly look into it then. Although, it's going to have to wait a couple of months. Going over my last CC bill. oops. Omnisphere + IK ARC, plus Nexus 2 + Nomad Magnetic (which sounds awesome too)= broke.

I'm mighty tempted to go back and remix some of my others (especially since my IK ARC gets here on Wens). I still want to get a UAD2 quad, and try their tape plugin. It's supposed to be the shiznit.

I just spent basically a whole day wrestling with iLok2 for WAVES 8.0 shell and Slate VCC. Just thought I'd post something to help those who will attempt these installs in the near future. tip 1 - When you download VCC, download the LEGACY version. The newest versions do not authorize properly with ilok2 yet. I think I have VCC version 1.1 if I can remember correctly. There are 3 or 4 legacy versions listed on their site...don't use the oldest one, but the next to the last oldest one works. tip 2- Turn off your internet connection when you do the ilok drivers (last thing to install)..that way it actually finishes the installation rather than locking up. tip 3- With WAVES, uninstall all older WAVES stuff first and then do the install...otherwise it doesn't install correctly.

sometimes I get the plug in your ilok message, sometimes I dont. in all, the Slate is a PITA compared to Satson and SkNotes EMUs for me, but your MMV.I have all three and to be honest.. think perhaps I spent too quickly.. BUT read ALL the comments on GS for one forum and make up your own mind, but , a fair percentage are less than ecstatic with mr Steves product.. just saying ..

No problems here with VCC, Waves v8, 7 & 6 & iLok2. I install the latest ilok software & drivers then use a registry cleaner (Acronis) Also the latest version of VCC works in X1 x64, the legacy versions don't.
