muting punch in region only on additional tracks during auditioning takes

With Sonar Producer 8.5 I have used punch in and layers with looping to record multiple takes of a segment of a track. In order to audition the various short segment in the the 4 or 5 layers I produced to see which one I like best, I do want to hear the original track but without the segment that is in the auto punch regions so that when I playback and audition the various takes I can hear it in context with what's in front and behind it.

The problem is, I only seem to be able to find a way mute the entire original track so that I only hear the small segments I auto punched during the new takes. Is there anyway to silence only the auto punch region of the original track or is there a better way?

Thanks

There is a global option to mute previous takes.

There is also a trick i used to do. Have not recorded in some while :(
If I remember correctly, You select show layers for the track and then insert an empty layer, then you mute that layer. I did something like that and it works. Try it

thanks CJ but I dn't think that's what I'm trying to accomplish.

i just figured something out, it has to do with a setting  called "isolate clip in layer" which I selected by right clicking on the layer, however now I can't figure out how to de-isolate the clip in layer. Does anyone know how to do this or a better way to accomplish muting the overlapping area of the layer so it can be auditioned properly?
