Audio loop recording broken?

I've reported this as a bug and it's been "referred to developers", but I've not seen anyone else mention it so I'm wondering if it's my setup somehow.

X1 Pro (64bit) installed on a clean system following a fresh Vista installation on a new drive so no previous versions of Sonar hanging around. Preferences are largely as default (no adjustments to MIDI or audio buffers). Interface is a UA-101 also acting as clock.

Steps:
Create an audio track, set up a loop and arm the track. Record audio, letting it loop a few times.

My results are as follows (the audio input wasn't receiving a signal, hence the straight line "waveform", but tracks receiving audio gets the same result; stereo or mono, no difference). Recording is 120bpm, 24/48.

Zooming in on the end of the loops at the now time I get:

I.e. the recorded audio ends before the loop point - there is a (very audible) gap where the end of the loop should be.

Zooming in further with timeline reading in samples:

If I drag out a clip to the now time (and the supposed end of the loop) the bit in the gap is blank.

This basically makes loop recording of audio impossible for me. Which is very irritating.

I eventually tracked down some old threads about a similar/same problem with punch recording. Which seemed to indicate it's an ASIO problem of some kind (and one Cakewalk have known about for a few years...)..

So I switched to WASAPI drivers and the problem seems to go away.

Is there a problem of similar kind in either Cubase or Studio One when using ASIO??

    Best Regards,
    Marek
