help with hearing two guitars

I have gtp4 and use the UA-1G interface.
When I set up a track and use Gutiar Rig 3 to get the effect sound, I can hear both my clean guitar and the effect added - like there are two people playing the exact same thing, one clean, one distorted. It pnly records the effect but its tough to ignore while recording... especially if I am adding a solo.
I cant find what I am missing here... any help would be much appreciated.
 
I am an old 4 track cassette guy from way back, this new tech can be tricky.

    yu need to find away to send 100 perecent effect output.im having alittle bit of a hardtime what your saying but..you also may try panning these two guitars to the left and right to offer seperation and spread the sound apectrum..leave your drums and bass in the middle always for good measure.voacals too.

    right.... when i start software, I can automatically hear my guitar, clean, through the ua1b... when I open a project, start a new track (still hearing clean guitar) and enable guitar rig 3 and use a distorted sound like eddie van panama, I play my guitar and hear the eddie sound but also still hear the clean guitar..

    I just cant figure out where the setting is.

    on your interface turn the knob that says mixer all the way wet..this will solve your problem for sure..i know exactly what your talking about..what are you using again for an interface..o ya.the ua-1g..turn the mix all the way to one side so your only hearing the mix..not the input..can you hear it on playback?

    trust me on this one..do it,youll be good.it might have some latency but it should be fairly okay...thank me later...lol...j/k

    to be more specific...your input monotring knob..turn it all the way up..good luck

    I'm not sure there is an input moniyoring knob on UA-1G, just a big input knob. I know what you mean, but do not know for sure if he has that option. Maybe on the software side, messing with the input monitoring button 0))), on the track you are recording/playing on? Would like to know if you find out scott68, I used to use this interface, but do not remember running into this. Good luck!

    Chuck  - you were right!
    There is no knob but there is an input monitor switch on the back... I threw it and viola! No overlap.... thanks, dude... I am now free to jam away without hassle.
