click track - how to create/record one without midi set-up

Hi everybody,

I primarily use Sonar 5 to record and edit my vocals.  I can import midi arrangements and assign sounds for recording over and playback is fine.  However, I can't seem to work out how to create a click track (for tempo purposes) that I can export along with the vocals and instrumentation.  I can use the metronome for playback and recording over but have no idea how to record the metronome sound so that it's recorded as either wav or midi.  I basically need to export the vocals and instruments along with a click track so that a drummer can use it for recording purposes.  Hope this all makes sense?

Can anyone help?  I don't have a midi-controller connected and I'm not most experienced with creating my own midi.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

D in London.

Just insert soft synth TTS-1 (or a drum software of your choice), set it to channel 10 (the drum channel). Open  Piano Roll and draw there a few bars of 1/4 notes using the note that plays the sound you want to use. Bounce it to audio, make it a Groove Clip and stretch according to your needs.

You can also simply copy paste the MIDI-notes you've drawn to the length of the song.

Now this will work only IF you have a metronome buss showing down in the buss pane! I have found the metronome buss is not there if I open a MIDI file directly, But it is included with most templates. Look down at the bottom in track view where the master and efxs buss are. If it's not there then use the Normal Template.

Set it's output to EFX buss 1 and it will be included in your mixdown export.
I did this by accident once.

Simple method.  Use the metronome with audio or midi and record it.  Go into the metronome area and you will see right away that you can choose your type of metronome.  Create new audio track, arm the track and record either type of metronome.

    Old thread, but...
Can you record the metronome without a soundcard that has "What-U-hear"? I doubt it, but I may be wrong because I've never tried.
