New Distant Towers, "Laugh Out Loud"

Good morning Cake-ettes!
Hope everyone is doing well today.  We have a new song and are hoping that you'll give us some feedback.  All comments welcome, even negative ones.

This is the third song that came about during the transition from 2010 to 2011.  Storybook, Westward Bound and then this little oddity.  Tom was out of town for work in January/February and so these three tunes starting falling into place once he returned home.

Here is the Soundclick link (I have not updated our website yet, but will do so tonight)

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10404386

The guilty mob:
Tom McCaffrey:  Lead vocals, lyrics and Sonar mayhem.   OOOPS!  Tom did all the funky lead guitars in this one!!!!
Preston Richardson:  Drums
Tony Wood:  Guitars (6 and 12 string--no leads), background vocals and some minor drum loops

This tune is a "bridge" tune.  At some point (when it makes it to a CD release) it will occur between two other songs as a little reprieve from the normal DT madness.  Well, okay, I guess this song is really more of the madness, but in a much more subtle way than usual.

Thanks for your time.

I am hearing a bunch of low rumble around 250-300hz that is kinda overwhelming the rest of the mix.

Despite being a sparse track, I found my attention being drawn to the sides quite often. Not much other than the percussion in the middle, which threw me off.

This would be a good closing track for a serial killer movie, where he gets away with a wry smile...

Perfect for that, and a very cool track guys. Love that bass motif, it makes a great hook for the piece.

Always a good day with a new DT tune!. Nice laid-back effort, and it will work very well as you envisage it. i agree it could also work as an album closer too. mix sounds great to me.

Slick tune,  very smug. The incidental laughs and such are great. Nice playing and production.  I like the fact that you are planning a bridge tune for your CD.  Great work.

Cool, different, creative. Mixed well.  I really like the mood it sets. Reminds me of something that Peter Gabriel would do. Nothing bad about that in my book......

Definitely a cool tune with that patented DT dark, evocative vibe to it.  Loved the bass part.  It felt like the vocal could come up some in the low, soft parts of the verses, but a winner overall.

mmmm... smooth, dark and disturbing. Love the vibe. Mix sounds great, although it does come across as bottom heavy. I'm not saying muddy, just heavy... lot's of energy (speakers - JBL LSR4326). I know you guys love it that way, so I'm just confirming.  Whatever role this piece ends up playing, it's a guaranteed fit. Bravo for an excellent production!

Suggestion: I do hear a few rim and guillotine shots on the snare, in a couple of "strategic" spots.
