Help me with an upgrade?

I recently upgraded to Sonar 8.5.3 PE from 5PE. Also Windows 7 from XP. Full specs below.

I have been using $200 Art TPS II's for pre's and run them into my $200 M-Audio Delta 1010LT via RCA cables (the delta card has a breakout set with only RCA.)  Well.... One of my 3 Art pre's I own took a dump the other day. So, I was wondering what the next upgrade should be and well here I am....

Show me a good Pre around $500. Rack mount.. Also, suggest a better audio card (PCI or better) that would have XLR ins and outs..also, up to about $500 for that also...there has to be the next step for converters and what not.....just don't know what to try...my current setup isn't too shabby, but I want something new and shiny...

thanks

    Ah, two for one 7-string.

Preamp ...  Gap pre 73.  Focusrite ISA One, except it ain't rackmount but worth the brick style.  RNL is two for $500, no transformers.  Any of those will be keepers for the long haul.

The interface ... not sure about XLRs - most have 1/4 inches except for the high-end.  Can't think of one for $500 that doesn't use combi XLR (preamp and line in padded).  Other than that the usual suspects.  I'm fond of TC Konnekts since that is what I'm using these days.  Great conversion for the price, good solid preamps, some on-board DSP, OK drivers.  The stienberg/Yamaha MR-16 (I think that is the designation) is supposed to be a winner for a few dollars more, tho you'll have to put your new preamp into the inserts on 1/2 channels via 1/4" to bypass the preamps.
