Frozen Tracks COLOR
Does it drive anyone else mad that frozen tracks take on the black and white look and seemingly can't be changed? After I do a large orchestral type project, I freeze everything to work in the audio domain. I know there are workarounds (copy track, etc) but that's a PITA as well. It seems to me DAW 2.0 should do a better job of this. It's butt ugly staring at a bunch of tracks in black and white. Anyone else agree?

It's ugly but legible... Just received a song from my brother done in 8.5.3 and all the frozen tracks were yellow on white - almost totally illegible! Q.

I don't see a reason to not use the same procedures for normal audio tracks with respect to colors. Frozen tracks have a different track icon, so that always shows it's frozen. But to work with almost all tracks frozen in a large project is difficult on the eyes, to say the least.

Actually, you can change the color of frozen tracks. Background (affects all frozen tracks): Access the Colors section in Preferences. Then choose Audio Tracks for the Color Category. Then select Frozen Track Background. Then choose a color. Foreground (can be different for each track): Select the frozen clip in the track. Click the Clips tab in the Inspector to access clip properties. Now remove the Use Track Colors checkmark and change the Foreground parameter to the color you want to use. Or you can change Foreground parameter under track properties to acheive the same thing. Scott -- Scott R. Garrigus - Author of the Cakewalk Sonar and Sony Sound Forge Power book series. It would be nice if it was an option to be automatic coloring just as it is for audio tracks (normal ones that is). PS- I do know about the above, as a workaround... it's just too much work.

Hi Billy, Well, the background change is easy... just change that one color in the Preferences and it'll affect all frozen tracks so you can at least change that so the tracks are easier for you to work with... no? It still makes a large project very mono looking on the screen. I've been doing a bunch of orchestral tracks with big plugins (Kontakt 4, EastWest Play, Indenpendence Pro 3, etc) so at the end I freeze everything. It becomes so eye-tiring after awhile to look at this stuff. Don't you agree an option (at least) to handle frozen tracks the same as normal audio tracks (with respect to coloring) would be useful/helpful in DAW 2.0? PS - this is the same in 8.5.3, which is what I'm using at the moment.

I definitely agree that having more options is always better. Scott -- Scott R. Garrigus - Author of the Cakewalk Sonar and Sony Sound Forge Power book series. Get Sonar X1 Power - Today! Couldn't agree more. I'm constantly closing folders to release myself from as much visual irritation as possible.
