Here's hoping... [demo?]
... the X1 demo becomes available shortly after X1b is released. Someone (Brandon?) said CW was hoping to post it sooner after the release than was the case for previous versions, but I haven't seen it mentioned in a while. Maybe I missed a post about it? Thanks- -Susan

No noise that I've heard Susan. I would imagine getting X1b out the door is top priority with a demo that has all of X1b's features close behind. Just a guess of course.

Hi Larry- Yes, soon after X1b would be good. I might just wait for X2 anyway at this point, but I'd like to see how X1 runs on my system before I decide. Thanks- -Susan

So they are happy to make people pay for the product but don't have enough confidence in it to let people test it first... .... ..... ...... ....... :(

Susan, You've been around long enough, based on your post count , you should just get X1. I think you will really like it. Don't be afraid, come on over to the dark side... I will never go back to 8.5 It's only a $99 upgrade for you, right? Just do it already! X1 runs the same or better as 8.5, as far as performance is concerned.

Hi A1- Well, I wouldn't go by post count , but yes, I've been around long enough (just a little longer than you, in fact -- note our "Joined" dates!). I still want to try it on my system, since results posted here have been mixed. If it's just the software I need to upgrade, then yes, it's $99, but I want to see how it looks and runs with my current hardware. I have dual 1280x1024 monitors, for example, which I won't be upgrading any time soon, and my CPU is a little under spec. I know folks have said X1 runs the same as 8.5.3 (some have said better, some worse), but I don't want to buy it until I can try it for myself. Thanks- -Susan

No mention of the demo yet. I guess you can still get some kind of feel for how it will run for you if you wait a few days for more X1B feedback. I am downloading it still and probably won't even get to try it for another 24 hours. My "non scientific" observation is that X1B runs better on underpowered "old spec" systems. I am running Vista 32 on a Q6600 CPU with 4 GB RAM, and have had very few issues. I think that the people with the most issues tend to have 64 bit systems with more than 4 GB RAM. Of course that is probably a sweeping generalization and could be entirely my own misinterpretation of the numerous threads I've read.
