Hi Gary , thanks for listening. This is in what I call open C : Low to high CGCGCE. They make nylon strings in different "tensions", where low tension strings feel really loose and extra high tension feels really tight under the fingers. This is on a medium tension string, sort of like a set of 0.12-0.53 bronze wounds, was actually pretty surprised to be able to tune that low although it's maybe not so clear that the low rumble you hear is a C.

Greetings, Rik

Rik, Man I love the incredible tone you are pulling off of those nylon strings. I may have to get over my aversion of how they feel under my fingers. Maybe I've just been exposed to bad strings, but I can't stand the feel of nylon strings.
I like your distinct, freeform style.
keep 'em coming.

Hi Gary, you're more than welcome. If you didn't have to detune the guitar that much I would use open C more often, when I had a steelstring I used to play slide in open C.

Hi Robert, thanks very much. If you switch between steel and nylon strings it's like a completely different instrument, they do feel weird at first but you can get used to that. There is a lot of difference between the different tensions and even between different brands, imho more so than with steel strings. I personally favor Aranjuez strings and switch between "Concert Silver" and "Spanish Silver", the latter being Flamenco strings they sound a bit brighter and feel looser under the fingers and the treble strings are black so they also look mean and moody .

Rik,
That is a great piece of solo acoustic guitar music!  I am a huge fan of open tunings and have only discovered them in my own playing in the last few years.  Great vibe and direction you took on this one.  Whenever I use an open tuning I find I do much more strumming than picking so this was a delight to hear you picking away.  You did a great job of tracking the guitar, pristine sound.  Nice work!

That is seriously cool! I keep meaning to play around with alt-tunings, but I'm lazy, and don't like retuning my guitar :)

Hi Brent, thanks for listening, if you don't like retuning don't use open c . Just dropping your low e to d is a nice start.

As it is, I have everything down a half step. I like the sound, and it suits my voice better.
