When You Love Me (Mix III)

This is a remix of a song I produced for my cousin, who writes songs, but really shouldn't sing them. His girlfriend's daughter sang the song with him as a duet. I then went in and did all the instruments and BG vocals. He wants the Rhodes piano solo replaced by a guitar solo. Done! Rik suggested I add sax fills throughout...what a great idea! It worked out well. Thanks Rik! Wookie said the bass was too heavy...I cut it back. Thanks Wookie

NOTE: The BG vox, organ, piano and sax were all done with my Roland GR-20 Guitar synth.

Hi Scott, listening on headphones there is a lot of hiss especially in the beginning. The female vocals are a bit loud imho. Love the sound of that sax, maybe use a bariton sax as well in the backing, make it sound even more like in the fifties. Fun song though.

Scott, I found it very bass heavy on the monitors not so on cans.  Just some tweaking here and there I am sure and you will have something cool.

Definitely better, may I suggest the bass needs a little more slap and not quit so much worrumff, if you get my drift.  This mix is not as loud either.

    Nice stuff Scott

    JC,
Thanks for listening, and I'm glad that you were entertained. We need to retrack vocals next, as they seem a little hesitant and flat to me.

    Janet,
Thanks for checking it out. Yeah, I'm playing lots on the guitar here....sax, organ, piano, background vox. Tis a fun little toy.

Really love their singing and their voice quality is very good.  There are few spots that they are not quite on pitch.  Also love the melody, very nice and happy song.  Great job on the sax.

The accompaniment seems really scooped out in the mids.

For having read the thread, I know you're not completely happy with the vocals. On the other hand, I wasn't listening with a critical ear at all. Just having fun with the overall vibe.

Hey Scotty really fun song.  The vox hessitation and flatness was already mentioned.  The overall sound was great though.  I cant believe you got that Sax sound from a guitar synth!  Nice job, enjoyable toon

    Vincente,
Thanks! Glad you like the song and I'm glad you liked my emulated sax parts too.

    Jamesyoyo,
Thanks for the listen! I didn't scoop out any mids, but the only mid instrument is the acoustic guitar...maybe I need to raise that up a tad. I think the kick is still too loud also. So, did you like the guitar "slaying"?

    JC,
    Understood. Thanks again.

    Mike,
Thank you very much for taking it for a spin. I'm glad you approve of the guitar synth sax parts.

I really enjoy the tune and your performances were superb. The vocals to me sound pretty good to me for the most part, just a few spots... I think with a bit of work they could pull it off nicely.

This is a little different from you, Scotty.  Sax sounds really different, but the articulations are really cool. Nice work. Vocals could use a tad of help sounding a bit more uniform. The pitchy-ness, I think isn't really all that prounounced, yet the two voices don't seem to blend as well making it appear more like they are pitchy. Just a guess but if you were to listen to each voice by itself with the music does it perhaps sound less off ??? I could easily be wrong here, but that was my first impression. Also, I think you mixed it to try to emphasize the vocals and sax which kind of leaves the bass at a loss? It comes across as very mid freq which sounds mixed well since there's a lot going on there, but the bass does seem to be pushed somewhat out of the mix.
