HD meter running strangely high...
I finally got up the nerve to buy another hard drive so that I could load up Win7 and X1a so that I could play in my downtime....gotta do my part to embrace the "future" even though my last couple of trials on X1 were nightmareish. One of the things I notice right away is that my Hard Drive meter is pegged up to about 60% usage - even without any projects loaded. X1 just loads that way. As I load projects in, the HD meter never changes...never spikes....just sits there showing nothing of value. Is this a commonly known bug - that the HD meter doesn't work?

Nope. The funny thing is, it's an SSD. I don't have this problem at all with an identical drive on previous Sonar versions. Tried moving the audio to a second SSD...same problem. As I said, the problem is there from the very moment X1 comes up....with nothing loaded or running.

I say "problem"....but there seems to be no performance issue with the drives. Just the annoyance of the non-working meter.

Using Cakewalk since about 1995....and I had my first call EVER to Cakewalk tech support yesterday. They tell me that the HD meter is showing how much space is left on the HD. For YEARS now, that meter has shown HD throughput capacity. Another "upgrade" that I don't understand.

Ive seen this as well. There is no possible way I am hitting the headroom of transfer capacity of my SSD and wicked fast RAID array. But I have seen the drive meter go up to max and back down.

Mine doesn't move at all. Static - at exactly the same percentage as my hard drive used space capacity. Sonar opens like that - without even having a project open.

☄ Helpful
In SONAR X1 the color of the Hard Disk icon indicates throughput - from gray through yellow to red. I hope this helps!

DANG! That sure does help! Someone should make sure Tech Support knows that! I mean, they were friendly and helpful....but obviously not completely up to speed on what's what on this one. I'm off now to find where this is mentioned in the manual...I assume it is?

Also, if you hover your mouse over the icon you can get precise details from the tooltip.

Actually, I'm not getting any mouse-over details on anything. I wonder if that's a setting within windows....

You know what....I'll bet if I turn tool-tips back on it would fix that problem.
