Crash!

Loaded up a rpoject, switched to Console view, then tried to get back to Track View and bang!

Rebooted Sonar, did exactly the same and Bang!

Disappointed

    Hi Bristol,

    Sorry you're having trouble.
Does this happen with all projects, or just the one you mentioned?

Jonesy, FWIW I got a crash very quickly relating to switching screensets -- but as I suspected, it was not the cause.  Something about the project template was.

However, the template was created in X1, so I don't know why it would be the problem - but starting yet another FRESH normal.cwt solved it for now.

So - like Zyler is asking, see if it happens in another/any project ?

Ok, tried it with a different project and it switched between Track & Console view without complaining.

It is hanging forever whenever I close a project.

Both projects I've tried so far were created in 8.5.3

Jonesy - try opening the ill-behaved project(s) in Safe Mode, saying Yes to all (which reloads the plugins but also does some clean up anyway) and see if that helps?

I think there's some issues with project compatibility or something ...but I know I solved 2 problems by recreating a project template which told me something changed.

I started the project template IN X1, and never changed it.  But recreating it fixed the issues.  So there's something 'there' if you know what I mean ;)

It still does not like any projects made before X1 i.e 8.x.x.

What causes a crash for me is trying to close any floating window like console or staff.  I found if I dock them in the multi-dock then float the multi dock they are not quite so temperamental.  If it continues I will make a formal report.

To all intents & purposes - this is a clean install

I had to completely remove X1 last time in order to get 8.5.3 back up & running

    Tonight I have installed X1, X1a & X1b, in that order

Did you try Safe Mode as I suggested?

I think there really is some type of corruption being exposed in X1B from older projects (even X1 projects).

Speculation on my part, but based on my short experience with X1B already, I do suspect this.

Well, I've created a brand new project in X1 - just imported a couple of loops and it seems to be working ok

This seems to be a repeatingt pattern - X1 is perfectly fine with new projects, but not older ones

But I'm halfway through an album all done in 8.5.3

And given the speed I work at, we'll be on X9 before I've finished it

I strongly believe there are some issues with older projects (even ones from X1) though I have no scientific proof;  just experience ;)

    This is odd

When I do a selective start up using the shift key, it asks me if I want to load BFD - I say yes and it load fine.

Actually that doesn't sound weird to me.

Safe mode does things differently - so it may load things but not bring up their last state (ie, if the GUI was opened when you closed the project).   It's like a mini debug mode, so to speak - so 'views' may not appear the same as in normal load mode.

we may or may not see the benfits of patch B untill we start new projects from scratch..thats what i intend to do later tonight...maybe even project templetes that were made before the patch B might not be stable..i dont know..in all fairness they should..but alot is yet to be seen.

My suspicion would be that with all the Cakewalk/Sonar plug-in updates the Safe mode will reload the plugins with their new updated version whereas the project may be trying to load the previous version.  Could be due to registration/version conflicts that is causing the hanging.

I think I MIGHT have nailed it

It's my suite of T-Racks singles plugs.

Deleting them and re-inserting them enables me to save my projects and exit cleanly.

The only problem is, X1 cannot load any of my presets - either those created in 8.5.3 nor created in X1
