SONAR Plus Update Available for Download (works with X1b, 21st March 2011)

Hi all,

I've finished updating SONAR Plus to make it work with X1b. There wasn't much to do, but it does fix an important issue with separate TV & PRV snap to grid settings (as well as adding support for the 'Measure' setting), and a layout issue with the Staff View note length menu buttons that caused the 'Track' menu item to be obscured. You can download it here:

http://www.sonarplus.co.uk/pages/downloads.aspx

If you have any problems, please post them to the SONAR Plus forum.

In other news, the first beta of the new SONAR Plus skin editor will be released by the end of the month. It's already working really well, and I just need to finish off some tedious user interface stuff before it's ready.

Thanks,
Ben

The link for X1b Essentials doesn't work right, it keeps sending me back to the page the link is on...there's no way I can download it.

I'm really surprised by how many people are already reporting bugs with X1b. I was really hoping that there would be many more success stories being reported. I hope we can expect updates closer together. A monthly bug fix would be nice. Now is the time to expedite a group of fixes to the users, big or small, and get us back up an running. The more downtime and the more opportunities Cakewalk give users to become disenchanted with X1 the more likely they will lose current and near future users. There was a fair amount of resistance with the new GUI. It isn't helping that after two updates that X1 is still unusable for some and annoying for many to use.

Obviously not everyone has had a horrible experience with X1 out of the gate but the forum has been overwhelmed with a lot of negativity since the X1 release. I personally like the new GUI and it has many features that I look forward to using... Still waiting on 1155 motherboard to be delivered so I can build the new pc. Other "old dogs" did not welcome it with open arms however so that was the immediate hurdle to overcome for Cakewalk. Not much they can do about that other than to never dare change for the better and eventually become extinct while other companies modernize their offerings. It was a good decision in my opinion. When you couple the new GUI with a buggy initial release for many and a first update had left much to be fixed you leave those individuals with a lengthy period of time to reconsider their DAW choice.

Earlier today it was not looking very good but as the day has gone on it seems that there more positive stories being shared. This makes me happy and optimistic that things should go smoothly for my transition. Perhaps I spoke up with opinion to quickly on X1b but I will stand by I what I said. Any outstanding bugs should be addressed very quickly, monthly, rather than waiting on a huge super update. The faster the updates roll out and fix issues the less time a user will have to dwell on those problems. Maybe that is flawed logic but ignorance is bliss

Well - some people had some small initialisation or configuration problems after the update and started screaming. Most of that problems where sorted out pretty fast. I myself had to clear the former VST scan and do a rescan because I got a error about the gloss dll. After the rescan everything works without a single crash, error or bug. If I would be a bit hot headed I would be yelling about a broken update with a faulty gloss dll here, before I took the time to take a rescan.

Everything seems to calm down by now, but I really hope I did not spoke too soon. Well - time will learn...

In the mean time - everything I throw at X1 seems to work, so for my needs X1 is fine.

    Hi Keni,
No snap to/by just yet I'm afraid. I just wanted to get SONAR Plus working with X1b as soon as possible. There are several improvements like that I hope to find time for soon.
    Thanks,
    Ben
