strange wav file in sonar 8.5.3

I recorded two tracks of a guitar part, and wanted to clean it up timing wise. So I went to the zoom icon, and selected both tracks, and hit my left mouse button and got this really weird thing. One of the tracks the wav form disappeared. the file is still there, and it plays, but the wav form is blank nothing, not even a straight line.

Has anybody else had this? How can I correct it?

hey beagle, did not help.. I tried to post a picture of it, but url would not show up... it looks like something is over the top of the one wav form. The first two measures show up as normal, but then it is like someone put a sheet of cardboard over the rest... the 2nd track is fine, it is just the 1st track. Main problem is, it is a stereo recording split into two tracks... so I need the other track. to say the least..lol

I went thru the help file but could not find anything that does this, that I may have clicked on accidently.

to post a picture you have to put the jpg on a host server like photobucket.com or something and then click on the picture icon and post the url where the picture is hosted.

try right clicking on the clip and choose 'BOUNCE TO CLIPS" and see what happens.  I've never heard of anything like this before

The missing clip will probably still exist as a WAV file in the project's Audio folder.  If you can identify the file, you could re-add it to the project using the Import Audio facility.

    that is odd looking.

since the file still plays then I would simply suggest cleaning out your picture cache and letting sonar redraw it.

to figure out where your picture cache is, go to OPTIONS>GLOBAL>FOLDERS and look at where the location is set.  then close sonar and then use windows explorer to go there and just delete everything there.  it's ok, it will get redrawn when sonar needs it the next time.  but each project will take a few extra seconds to redraw when you first open them up again.

Is there another clip overlaying the clip you want to see? Turn on layers to find out.

Guitarman, it looks like you've zoomed in too closely on the track.  Look at the grid at the start of the track, noting the db levels.  On the clip below, you're looking at -3, -6, -9, and -12.  On the one you're concerned with, you're looking close enough to see -39, -42, etc...

I'm not sure how to reset that, but i'm betting it's what will solve your concern.

Thanks Bbent.  It's good to realize that after 8 years with Sonar products, there are still things we don't all know.
