PLEASE! Tell me how I can use the prochannel with the Mackie C4 controller. REWARD!!!!!
So I installed X1b-so far so good. I wasn't really having trouble with X1a. BUT, what I wanted more than anything was to be able to use the prochannel just as I do all my VSTs using the C4. I have tried using the C4 commander, but I really don't get it. The manual is not helping. Is there an instrument definition for the Pro Channel? I would PAY someone to make one (if it's even possible). Why are SOME of the parameters visible to the C4, but not the rest? Anybody got any ideas?

After a little digging, it seems it will only work if Sonar releases it as a VST, or if they make the parameters visible as VST params. It's bizarre, everything that is automatable should be visible, and EVERYTHING is automatable. It SHOULD work, but it doesn.t..... :/ anybody?

Tomorrow I am going to do some testing with x1b. When testing x1a I found out that only one control and one button on the eq transmitted CC numbers. I made a small video, put it up on the tube and sent CW a problem report and a link to the video. Not long ago I got a response from CW that they are aware that not all the EQ controls transmitted the same CC numbers as they respond to. And that would be corrected in x1b. While that wasn't exactly my problem, I counted my blessings and awaited x1b. In order to listen to what the prochannel is "saying" when controls are spun I need to reset up my test jig that uses two pcs and a midi adapter. It's a shame that CW knows the CC numbers but doesn't document it anywhere. That's going to happen Tuesday unless I get swamped at work. You all will be the first to know. If I find out what CC numbers all those pots use I will document it and post it as well. And it may help you in the end, I don't know.

I am curious if you can use ACT to tell it what to do. I am a little frustrated too with the prochannel.

I was rather hoping that the PC compressor and Tube saturation might be exposed to use in the MCU, but it seems like they are not. I guess that would help C4 users as well. I put this in as a feature request a while ago. I really hope it gets sorted. For me this is the only step backwards there is using X1. Less control by a control surface.

bitman, you are my hero. I will await your findings. to VS and Laney, when you are using the C4 THROUGH the MCU as I am, it is in Sonar mode. In this case, it does not work like a general midi controller. All VST parameters are automatically mapped. I'm not sure if running it "straight in" would help in this case, but some other functionality would be lost. It is worth looking into. Since I AM running it in Sonar mode, ACT and midi learn do NOT work as you'd expect.

This will be interesting to follow since I have the MCU Pro. XT and C4. C4 seems like a boat anchor for a canoe right now.

Blitz. Ah i get it now, its to bad you cant use both modes, have you tried genarl midi, i think you would only have to map it once, then maybe assign a hot key to switch back and forth?

I got two eq pots and the eq mode to respond to three bcr2000 controls just before going home for the day. What I find curious and disturbing is that when I turn the bcr2000 pot the prochannel pot responds very slugishly. I dare say I have read about the sluggishness somewhere here before. Furthermore if I give the bcr2000 pot a good spin Sonar X1B seems to lockup for a while as if the midi stream is backing up. Note that controling the per channel sonitas eq in this way does not cause the sluggishness. At least X1 was free........ What I need is a program that can feed CCs of any value out a midi port.

Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I found that if try to map some BCR 2000 rotaries for the PC, all PCs are responding simultaneously. I would have expected only the one with focus would move. What I am doing is right-clicking a knob in the PC (say channel 1) and then selecting “remote” then move a knob on the BCR2000, then press the learn button (knob now moves PC knob), then right click the same knob in another PC on another channel, and select “remote” then learn button again (knob in BCR2000 now moves same knob on both PC instances regardless of which has focus. This makes using more than one PC pretty useless with the BCR 2000. No advert for Presonus here, but mapping the BCR in Studio One is a snap and everything is remembered as expected when a plug has focus (so I know my setup is correct). Wish X1 could do it that way.

gibsongs: Why are you right clicking and choosing Remote? Of course, things may be different among devices, but that seems to be a convoluted way of getting it to assign things, and judging by your post - not getting it right. Try this. 1: Open Pro Channel 2: Click anywhere within the module you want to "learn" (ie: comp, eq or sat) 3: Make sure your controller is selected in the "Controller Module" of the Control Bar, and click Midi Learn. 4: Left click on the control you want to learn (to select it) > move the button on the controller that should correspond 5: Repeat #4 for all items in that module you want to control. 6: Once all items are mapped, click on "Midi Learn" once again. 7: Midi Learn will tell you how many items it has memorized, and ask if you want to store them. I'm not 100% sure that will work for you, but that's how I program my controller(s). EDIT: Sorry, this post was off topic on this thread. I was just answering the question previous.
