X1B is ground zero.
Here is my opinion about X1b: X1b is where SONAR X1 should have been on December 8th. Good start. Now, bring on the patches and the updates. I'm thinking X1c, X1d and possibly X1e. No anger here, just what I would call a reasonable expectation of quality in a finished product.

In reply to the OP Dave you are spot on. Fantastic post. Thats exactly what I have been thinking these last few days. Cakewalk have to throw out the rulebook on this one and keep working on this new version of Sonar until the summer. I want to upgrade but at the moment I simply dont have enough confidence to do so. I also think that Sonar X2 should be an earlier release than normal. If I was to buy Sonar X1 now I have to install at least two patches and from the looks of it hopefully more. Therefore I would prefer just to start afresh with no messing around with patches with Sonar X2. After all when I bought Sonar Producer 7 I have never had to install any patches just the initial application and away I went.

Sonar x1.3 maybe, so new users don't have to patch (at least) twice. Isn't that how v8 went, .3 and then 8.5 as an upgrade?

DeeringAmps- Good idea. I can go with that. Dont wont to start patching since I havent upgraded yet and so still have a clean slate so to speak. For any new users I think many would like to be able purchase the product without patches. A Sonar X1.3 update or 1.5 whatever you want to call it would be better after further updates have been implemented.

Well not until another X1 user comes over later this evening for a tutor lesson.

I think once you finally do upgrade you'll be kicking yourself for waiting so long. I would recommend upgrading now. At least this way you are familar with X1. You don't have to REALLY use it if it doesn't work good for you.

I totally agree! I purchased Sonar 8 Producer and had several upgrades to 8.3.1. What a mess!!! I was very seriously thinking about gettint X1 but with all the problems right from the get go, I'm not interested at this point. You would think that Cakewalk would provide a finished product at the release dated. I don't have any confidence at all now with Cakewalk. They take your money, and make you wait and wait, only to dangle the carrot!!!

Hopefully as patches come down to us, they'll get rid of some of the 'dumbing down' approach.

I have to agree; usually I cut them some slack on a new release, just look at the bugs in any given Microsoft new release, or for that matter any complex piece of software. However, this time the initial release of X1 really had more of a "beta" release feel to it. I'd agree that X1b is the baseline now, and we can start reporting the remaining bugs and issues. John

(that sound you hear is the train ready to cause destruction and doom for all LOL!) Question: -why is it two different people can say exactly the same thing (with minor wording differences) and one gets flamed and the other is dead on? This is not directed at anyone, just a general observation. You are indeed "spot on". I don't come around much (of course can't resist after the update) but two things to add. -3 months was WAY TOO long! I'd say even unacceptable -Now that it's here I have absolutely no intentions of waiting for anymore patches or updates. I mean how long will THAT take? It either does the job or it doesn't. I've been using it since day one and it's good enough for the meanderings of bits and pieces I do. Best wishes to all.......time for some of my meanderings in X1!
