Sonar X1 and Zoom R16 as an I/O controller issues.

Hi folks,
I’m hoping someone has a solution to my situation.  In a nutshell, I am using my R16 with X1 on a brand new PC.  I just built am machine for the purpose of using Sonar X1 with my Zoom R16 as an interface controller to record multiple tracks at once.  Reason: I’m archiving ADAT’s direct to sonar and wish to add some live recording.  I know I could do this with the SD card and import the WAV files into, but the fact is that this baby should record direct via the controller and it is not- even when the tracks are assigned to the correct channel in the R16

Here’s my rig…
AMD Phenom X4 550 chip 3.2 ghz,
Gigabyte GA-880GM-D2H motherboard
8 gig DDR3 ram
Win7-64 bit w/ X1b loaded
(2) 1.5 t-byte drives.
No other software is on the machine other than SonarX1 related and Audacity.  The sole purpose of this machine is for digital audio and composing.
My unresolved issue is that after installing the Zoom drivers, I get the error: The following driver(s) do not support the current audio format, or are in use by another application.  Then it shows all the Zoom channels along with the onboard sound output driver (Realtek) not being usable.

I've attempted the following corrections and have these outcomes:
1)      All windows sounds are off
2)      No other audio programs are active
3)      I’ve made sure that my sample and bit rates match (R16's 24bit is unchangable in the ASIO driver setup).
4)      I’ve made sure to load the Zoom’s Sonar Plug-in when installing the R16/24 64 bit drivers.
5)      ASIO: does not recognize the R-16 for playback or recording devices.  (But the R16 ASIO driver is installed)
6)      WDM/KS sees there is a Zoom controller but can’t access it along with the onboard audio output and thus giving me the error.
7)      MME gives me bare minimum in a single stereo track.

I’ve loaded the updates for Zoom and Sonar X1b and no luck. I’ve also gone into the BIOS and turned off the onboard audio just to see if the two devices were not getting along.  No dice there either.

Would anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have heard of people having driver problems when using RAM over 4G. You might try removing 4G and see if it works. Then you would at least know what road to go down to get it working right with 8G of RAM.

    rfesus,

I am not sure if this is your problem, but check out the following.

    1. With no project open select Edit/Preferences
    2. Notice in the list that there are selections for input and output for the zoom.  In mine they were all greyed out.
    3. For some reason I had to uncheck all other checked devices in the list first, select the zoom as the output and then check the input selections.

The zoom was then the sound card for Sonar X1.

I installed the Xb update.  I don't know if this had anything to do with it.

I'll have to try my R-16 again, I had given up. I have been able to use it as an interface to monitor a project but have not tried to record through it. I assume if I can monitor, I can record but I have not been able to set it up as a controller. The Ux-2 has been easier to use. I will try your settings tomorrow with mine.

    OK, semi revelation, I think.

When you create an audio track there are 4 different stereo input selections for the Zoom and if you wish there are left and right input selections for each. I used the fourth one and the left and right channels for the internal microphones woke up and started recording.

    I hope this helps.
