You could always PM Scott and ask if you can pay him $100 I'm sure he won't mind.

    Don't Amazon do free shipping?

    Hey Gavin and Charlie,

Just for the record... the book is available from many different retailers (including Cakewalk) and each retailer can set their own book sale price as well as shipping prices. Neither myself nor the publisher has any control over this... each retailer is responsible for their own prices.

If you don't like the price at one retailer, you can always shop around. But of course, I'm also very happy that Cakewalk is selling the book.

    Thanks!
    Scott

PS. Thanks for the love too!

Scott this guy has just saved at least $35 make sure he sees you right...

At that price and offering $100 he can still afford to donate $81 to the Garrigus beer fund...

    I meant the OP Chuck.

Of course you will shop around just like any sane person would, with or without being confronted with a shipping charge like that.

I just typed in Sonar Power into Google to get the $28 price from Amazon.  It was much easier than coming on here to bleat about a bogus charge.

Obviously Cakewalk doesn't want to sell many books.

The funny thing about Cakewalk's marketing is that I'd even doubt that they are making anything on that shipping charge it's just they don't seem to be that bothered about doing what is required to be competitive in the market place.

btw Scott's books are great for getting the most out of Sonar and I've rarely opened one of mine without finding out something that makes me go "well I never knew that" for $28 it's a complete 'no-brainer'.

I would suggest that people double check this as I just had a look on this site and the shipping is £5 (in proper money), which equals $8 and a couple of cents.

Yeah, I think that $35 shipping fee is an error. Even for shipping to Canada (out of the U.S.) that price seems steep. The OP should contact Cakewalk about that.

Amazon.ca offers free shipping in Canada and it now looks like they have it in stock. $36 CAD I believe.
I ordered mine through Amazon.com and the total was $38 with shipping (.com doesn't ship free to Canada).

I would think CW made a mistake on that shipping fee!

I ordered the book and it was $35.00 total with shipping from Cakewalk.  I am in the US so maybe it is different to Canada.  Of course if I would have checked Scott's site I would have got it for the same price without shipping and saved myself about $6-7.  I just happened to be out on Cake's site looking at other things when I saw the book and just ordered it without thinking due to the convenienc.  Not losing any sleep over it because the book and the knowledge to improve my usage of Cakewalk was my initial concern.  Just one less eating out excursion this week :)

Sorry you are having problems.  I would think like another poster said I would contact Cake if it really was $35.00 for just the shipping.

    Hey Terry,

Thanks very much! I hope you enjoy the book. And even though you have it already, you'll still want to keep an eye on the site: http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks

I've posted corrections for the X1b update there. And I'll have video supplements soon too.

    Thanks!
