Easy Tempo question

When I change the tempo number and press the enter key the tempo number changes.  However the project still plays at the old speed not recognizing the new bpm.  Why?  Thanks  JP

Audio doesnt follow the project tempo. The only thing that changes when you change the tempo is the timeline.
Audio is audio. It has no embedded info in it, unless you enable it as a groove clip.
Audio snap will also change the tempo of your audio

MIDI on the other hand has all this info embedded and will follow project tempo.

you can't change the tempo of recorded audio just by changing the tempo of the project.  it doesn't work that way.  if you want to change the tempo of the project you have to use audio snap or convert the clips to groove clips and change the tempo in the groove clip properties.

Alternatively, you could try shortening or lengthening each clip to fit the project, using the Time-Stretch audio effect:

    Select clip, Process menu > AudioFx > Cakewalk > Time/Pitch Stretch 2

    Don't expect perfect results though.
