jabdo56 Does X1b fix editing of buss envelopes? Hmm, good question. I haven't had a chance to try it YET. If I were a betting man, though .... er, nevermind ;)

If I were a betting man, though .... er, nevermind ;) If you (or someone else) have it and would test it, I'd love to know. I've made a lot of money with Pro Audio and SONAR over the years so I'm not going to bash Cakewalk. But this long standing bug makes an otherwise powerful, professional product seem amateurish. X1 and future upgrades are non-starters for me unless this gets fixed. For those of you who are unaware of this bug, if you delete a section of a song with Events in Track, Track/Buss Automation and Delete Hole checked, SONAR does NOT delete the selected section of buss envelopes.

Well, not good news - at least for my testing. First test was to COPY/PASTE automation on a bus. Same old problems. The first time pasting deleted the 'source' (the envelope I copied). I tried every conceivable setting (paste into new clips, paste into existing, blend, don't blend, etc). Nothing worked. So that's still as broken as ever. And, even though I'm executing the Paste while the BUS is selected, the paste dialogue defaults to "Track" instead of "BUS" as to WHERE to paste. Ugh. I'll try the delete and report back.

I just tried the delete issue - and it, too, is still there. At least for me. Maybe someone else will have a different result, but I see no change whatsoever in the issues with bus automation. Those bugs are still there.

Thanks for checking Bill. Very disappointing. I want to support Cakewalk but I won't be upgrading again until they fix this long standing bug.

jabdo56 Thanks for checking Bill. Very disappointing. I want to support Cakewalk but I won't be upgrading again until they fix this long standing bug. What's unfortunate is that I got X1B and decided to do a new project in it -- it's the best way to shake something out; but a project takes on a life of it's own, as you probably know - so I didn't get far enough into it to use all the features I would want to know are working properly at this point. 2 serious things have shown up ... the inability to preview loops at the host tempo (that IS a show stopper for me); this BUS envelope fiasco (this is also a show stopper). There's more. But there's no way around these. No workarounds for such things. They simply don't work. So I'm a bit disappointed at the moment and need to re-think where I'm going with all this too.

I hear ya. I was very perplexed by the feature list when X1 was announced. I suppose the new UI and Pro Channel are nice, but I would have been more excited by features like "All previously documented bugs fixed!" and "Faster, more stable operation!"

BTW, Bill. The work around I use for the buss envelopes bug is to bounce the project to a stereo track and then delete the sections from that. It works but it's a hassle because every time I make an edit I have to redo the deletions.

I just wanna make music without the flow killers. Pro Channel can be useful, but I'm not as enthralled as some others are about it. I still find some 3rd party stuff to do the job much better for me.

I'm just happy to see that the X1 splash screen works now. I don't need my bus automation to function properly. Instead, I'll just admire that splash screen and smile.....

@splash screen: I don't get it, seems the same as always @loops at host tempo: Hmmmmmmmm, didn't notice that...(puts on x1 and starts to check it out)

you know what. This is a huge problem, and I'm only realizing it now. I'm waiting on hold with Cakewalk tech support to see if there is any workaround - but without the ability to properly copy/paste bus automation, I'm in deep, deep trouble. How can the bakers get away with not giving us the ability to copy/paste? Forgive my anger here- but I don't understand why there wouldn't be the same flexibility with bus automation as there is with regular track automation? A big WTF from Asheville NC.

The bus envelope bug is still there!Furthermore there are other bug with general automations (graphic corruptions, unselectable nodes). That's really weird and embarassing, how a company can sell a product with stoopid bugs like that? They wanna convince Cubase or ProTools users to buy Sonar with crap bugs like that?Really...a lot of ****s!!

I don't copy/paste envelope data much, due to lots of problems and bugs with these functions over the history of sonar. But I just played around in X1 and noticed a few things: - If you try to paste automation data with "Slide over to make room" it doesn't paste right, and in fact screws up ANY copy/paste of automation until you RESTART sonar. Even if you choose a different paste mode, open a different project, doesn't matter. - I can get "cut bus automation and leave a hole" to vaguely work with the following steps: - alt-click-drag in the bus pane to select the region you want with the smart tool - make sure that region has at least one node - cut, and select both "track/bus automation" AND "events in tracks" (even though you have no tracks selected), and also "Delete hole". - it *should* cut and delete the hole. however, it only deletes it in the bus pane, so you'll have to repeat the same steps to delete the hole in the tracks as well (so choose easy selection boundaries such as measures) - you may end up with "overlapping" envelope pieces -- click on individual nodes to sort it out. It's still wonky and buggy as heck, so be careful. But this at least gets sonar to respond in some way, and you might be able to get some sort of work-around out of this if you tread delicately. But yeah "slide over to make room" appears to be completely broken with envelopes. Avoid it at all costs! (That is, assuming my sonar is acting like everyone else's... sometimes I wonder if I have a "special" version ;) ) I might file some futile bug reports on this behavior in the next couple days if I get some time.

Is copying and pasting automation still an issue with X1d? It seems like it is. I have tried repeatedly to copy and past automation in many different combinations and whenever I do, the paste deletes the automation I just copied. This particular thread doesn't appear to have been addressed by the bakers yet...going back to May 04, 2011. Does someone have a better work-around than the one outlined earlier in this thread? Thanks!
