Pops and hisses on my audio track

I have upgraded to X1b, and I am using the amplitube stealth pre-amp.  I have a new laptop with 4 gig of memory (Win XP).  When I record my guitar it sounds fine during recording, but during playback I hear pops and hisses in the audio.  I am new to HD recording.  I tried uping the latency, but then the sound get's really distorted.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's and ASIO device. It's the Amplitube Stealth external USB "guitar cord".  It came with the Fender software.  Thanks for the quick response.

DPC latency issue. (perhaps).  Try using asioforall driver.  try disabling wifi card.  if all else fails, try using in MME mode.

also, download the dpc checker (google), and run it.  also try disabling antivirus, and close any other unused applications from the task manager...off the rack laptops, right now are not particularly good with DAWs right now...i'm hoping that will change soon...also, try disabling the internal soundcard in the BIOS.  Also, you may find that using the onboard soundcard, with asioforall may yield better results.....
