Fool me once 2x but
O.k I have to say fro starters I purchased 8.5 for diferent reasons mainly the synths. I am using Cubase which is very stable and I have been using forever. Being on the cutting edge I mustKeep up with all the trends, 8.5 being one of them. I am very pleased with the synths in X1 so as far I'm concerned I got my moneys worth, a happy camper. I decided to give cw a chance then they delivered an untested and immature product. What C.W does not understand is that they are playing with peoples lives here! Don't release a product or an UPDATE unless it is fit for purpose I would rather wait. Thank god for the forum, after reading comments regading X1b I am blessed not ot have installed it. By the way I tried to dl x1b on several occassions with no luck, or maybe with great luck cause mostly the first release is giving me no prob's. Sorry for the rant but C.W thanks for the Soft synths, If I could only record the synth's directly into Cubase That would be sweet. Preston

You need to have X1 & X1a installed before you can install X1b 8.5.3 is a totally different package

Wrong forum, Preston. This is the forum for everyone who's not battling X1, the ones still happily making music with 8.5 and earlier.

the ones still happily making music with 8.5 and earlier. Here, here! I'll second that. Looks like I'm puttin' money on X2 still. Or might be they will have to completely rename it like Microsoft did with Vista, Nobody liked Vista so they fixed it and called it Windows 7. I'm happy to have missed Vista, and I'm also happy to have missed Sonar X.

After much deliberation, I decided to download the X1b update and persevere with my investment. (I reverted to 8.5.3 in January after insurmountable problems with X1 and a corrupted 8.5.3) A couple of points. 1 - X1b and 8.5.3 seem to happily co-exist on my system. 8.5 appears to run fine with no corruptions 2 - Opening projects in X1 that were created in 8.5 still cause random crashes, freezing etc 3 - Projects STARTED in X1 appear to 100% stable There must be several clues to the code-writers here as to what is going on with X1

Plus you've acquired a couple of fixes for 8.5 in the process (e.g. the Sonitus Delay memory leak) because some of the X1b fixes are in files shared by both X1 and 8.5.

Very true Bit. It might be my imaginaton, but 8.5.3 might just be incrementally snappier. It's very subtle, but I think I can detect something.

Charles - have you tried to open a project in X1 that was originally created in 8.5.3?
