X1b - Now Time snap in Track View
OK, I know this was working before I installed X1b. I've scoured the manual and the forum to figure out how to reset the Now Time so that it follows the snap settings in the Track View. For example, my snap setting is set to Measure, and when I click in the Time Ruler, the Now Time snaps to the nearest measure as it should. But, when I click within the Track View (i.e., where clips are arranged), the Now Time ignores the snap settings and goes to the exact point that I clicked (i.e., does not snap to the measure). It's probably something obvious, but I've wasted nearly an hour of very precious music time trying to figure out how to set it back! Help!

Dave, I'm not seeing that. I just tried various snap settings and it seems to work as expected (clicking in the track view). Are you SURE the snap grid is "ON"? I know you're not a stupid guy, but it's worth double checking. I've done things much more silly than that ;)

Oh yeah, snap is definitely on and I've tried every possible snap setting combination that you can think of. But, I think you're on the right path - it's probably something fairly obvious that I'm overlooking. The only thing I can think of that may have shut it off is that I tried the new keybinding feature that sets the snap to measure. I have since disabled that keybinding, but that doesn't seem to have fixed my issue either.

Yeah, I tried that too. A little more digging and I found that if I open a new project using an old template, it works again, but the issue persists in anything made with a blank template or my own custom "Normal" template. I guess I'll just reinstall the factory templates and see if that fixes it.

They were all related to what appears to be a bad/corrupt/whatever template made fresh in X1. Redoing it from scratch solved 2 issues (both crashes). So yes, perhaps you were hit by the same situation or similar.

OK, it gets weirder. When I open up one of my older templates, the Now Time snaps as it should. But, when I delete the two tracks that are in the template (trying to make a new blank template to start with), I immediately lose the Now Time's ability to snap in the Track View.

Even if you add back in some tracks (and at least one audio track)?

ba_midi Even if you add back in some tracks (and at least one audio track)? OK, if I add tracks back into it that same template it works properly again, so I guess that makes sense because it's the normal behavior. But, that didn't work with the other projects made with my custom normal template (including several that have numerous drums/synth plugins already inserted) for some reason. Anyway, I reinstalled the X1b patch, deleted all of my custom templates and started over and so far, so good. I'm going to see if I can replicate it by playing with the new snap-to-measure keybinding, since that's the only thing I can think of that would have caused it.

Greetings; Hope i'm not misunderstanding the issue you're talking about, but it sounds like you've selected 'Snap By' rather than "Snap To'...have you doubled checked this? Regards Glenn

Regards Glenn That setting should matter when moving the timeline (NOW time). But I'm pretty sure that's not what the problem was for Dave.
