are these sounds availiable in Sonar 8?

Hi, I suspect this is not possible, but will ask before giving up. I'm trying to create col legno and ponticello, both violin family techniques, in an orchestral score. Is this possible?

I'm not familiar with those violin techniques (I'm not a violinist or orchestral musician of any kind).  but you probably want a 3rd party orchestral softsynth to try to get MIDI to do boutique techniques.  EW would be the first to come to mind.

maybe I'm completely off base, here, tho.  maybe this is not what you're asking.  I'm just not familiar enough with the technicques you're asking about.

    +1 for EW

There are others - Vienna is a good one, so I've heard.

To answer your question - no, there is nothing like that bundled with Sonar at all.
Probably the closest would be the Garritan samples in Dimension Pro, but I suspect they won't be to your satisfaction.

    Not even close.

Harmonics for strings is another one missing from everything I've seen. In Philharmonic I approximated col legno by manipulating parameters of the violin sound drastically. took forever and then only worked over a limited range. You relly have to get into synthesizing.I also wanted a tap-the-strings-with-the wood sound  and got it by manipulating one of the guitar patches instead of the violin patch.
