X1b - I may be starting to forgive you now!
Just to say I've started a new project using X1b and have generally been impressed after working for a couple of days with it. The big issues seem to be sorted and now it's just a learning curve, particularly for the new shortcuts. So far so good though, they generally seem more logical. I haven't dared install DimensionPro 1.5 yet as my old projects use the DXi version (not supported after 1.2) and that whole process started my very bad experiences with X1 last time. I'm also following other users' experience here and leaving 8.5.3 installed for editing old projects. So far so good - I'm gradually losing to urge again to buy ProTools9 for Windows. Guys, please don't ever do this again. But thanks for putting in the serious effort to solve the issues. Best regards,

Great to hear X1b is working as expected. Need more of these success stories.

TobyC I haven't dared install DimensionPro 1.5 yet as my old projects use the DXi version (not supported after 1.2) and that whole process started my very bad experiences with X1 last time. I don't know this for sure, but I was assuming that installing DimPro 1.5 over an existing DimPro installation should allow the older DXi version to continue to work if the .wav content isn't replaced with the new .flac stuff. (DXi instances would continue to be 1.2. VSTi instances will be 1.5.) I thought that the DimPro installer wouldn't replace the .wav content with .flac content if it already exists. (Can anyone confirm or deny?) Someone on another thread mentioned a problem where the content wasn't updated and a newer template that was expecting .flac content pitched a fit. This may or may not be an issue for you.

I'm digging it as well. No lockups since I pulled out Perfect Space. I can now work on efficiency and, uh... music.

Not one issue. My specs are below. I have all sorts of free downloaded impulses besides the CW ones. Anyway, glad you got the rest sorted out

(Can anyone confirm or deny?) Yes, I'd really like to know the answer to this too in order to plan an orderly upgrade to DimPro1.5. Last time I seem to remember the installer insisted that 1.2 was uninstalled first which then lost settings to the DimPro DXi tracks on older projects. Has anyone cracked this issue and got 1.2DXi and 1.5VST instances running side by side? Best wishes,

I am quickly getting used to "X1" . Being able to hide the control bar with the "C" and having a simple "R" to record and "D" to bring up the mixer is cool. I wish the snap wasn't tethered to F12 though. I even like the idea of the smart tool. I'm not sure if I understand the Dimension Pro problem correctly but I can open both the DXi and the VST version on my computer.

Ditto... I also have older projects that use the Dxi version. I'd imagine it has to be possible, but having the "right" steps would be great.

I am postulating here...that is to say that I haven't done this on my own system...but you might be able to continue to use DimPro DXi 1.2 and DimPro VSTi 1.5 on the same system without conflicts if you point the DXi version at a .wav version of the Multisamples directory and have a separate .flac version of Multisamples for VSTi. (The downside, of course, is that, not only do you not get the disk space advantage of .flac files...it's actually worse because you'd have to keep them both.) Version 1.5 is using a different set of registry keys than 1.2 did, so you may be able to get away with this.
