Mising FX in X1 Power Book

Scott Garrius, this is directed mainly to you.
I was organizing the plug-in menu per page 16 and I noticed many of the plugins you mentioned weren't there.  All in the DX plugin category.  They were mainly any with just Cakewalk in the title.  For example there was no Cakewalk Chorus or Cakewalk Chorus (mono). In the compressor category there was no Cakewalk FX Compressor/Gate (there was a Cakewalk Compressor/Gate) but NONE of the other Cakwalk FX effects listed. These weren't the only categories.  The missing ones were all Cakewalk effects.  I have the producer version so I'm assuming they should all be there.  Can you help me?

Sorry, I'm not Scott, but if I remember correctly:

These FX are not installed in de standard installation of SONAR X1.
If you want to use those effects you should do a Full installation.
However, some components could be 32-bit only, only I do not know from head which ones.

    Hi Tod,

Thanks for picking up my book! I hope you're enjoying it.

That topic in the book is just an example and is used to show you how you can organize the plug-ins on your system, but everyone may have different plug-ins.

However, Onno is correct when saying that the plug-ins you mentioned are not installed by default. They are deprecated plug-ins and only 32-bit. Cakewalk only includes them for backwards compatibility with older projects, but those fx will probably be phased out eventually. I would recommend not using them, and using the Sonitus:fx or other fx included with SONAR instead.

But if you really want to use them, you can pop in your SONAR X1 DVD and choose to do an advanced install. Then on the screen where it shows you a list of the components to be installed, remove all checkmarks except for the ones corresponding to the missing plug-ins. Then the program will only install those components without affecting your current SONAR installation.

    Best,
    Scott

Zonno & Scot,  Thank you VERY much for your prompt reply.  And it's so cool t actually get a response from you Scott.  I can't think of any book I've purchsed where I've been able to do actually converse with the author.  Have your Sonar 8 book as well as Michael's Reason 4 book.  Been a fan for awhile.  I actually downloaded the program but going to be installing a new hard drive so I'll have to reinstall anyway and I'll look out for what you guys mentioned.  And with everything else I have I wasn't worried about not having them but was worried I might have messed up the install.  Thanks again for your time.

    Hey Tod,

No problem at all. Glad I could help! And thanks again for reading my book(s).

By the way, some corrections were made for the X1b update. Go to my site, click the SONAR X1 Power link, and then click the Errata link to read the corrections: http://garrigus.com/?PowerBooks

    Thanks!
    Scott

I too am working my way through Sonar X1 Power! (£20-approx UK), and on doing the plug-in folder also noticed that some of the PUs were missing, now I know that I don't have to bother. What a Forum!!
