X1B Controller Reset Bug ? (now with Video)

From every test I did in the last half hour, it seems X1B has another bug regarding controllers.

I have 2 guitar tracks (using Kontakt4) that have sustain pedals in them (controller 64).

When I hit stop it's as if the sustain pedal is still down and the notes keep going (unless I hit stop just at the right point where there's a sustain pedal off data).  Like a hung note.

So I realized I didn't have "Reset All Controllers On Stop" set in X1B.   So I set it.

It does not work (for me) with sustain pedal (CC 64).

So, just to be sure it wasn't a patch problem or a Kontakt problem,  I opened the same file in 8.5.3 (which has "Reset Controllers On Stop" Checked...  and it works properly!   It also works properly without that setting!

So then I tried creating a fresh project in both X1B and 8.5.3 using the same guitar multipatch and doing the same experiment.  Same results:

X1B does NOT reset controller 64 on Stop.
8.5.3 DOES reset controller 64 properly.

I haven't tried other controllers yet but CC64 is a no go (for me).

I would ask that some of you try this and confirm this please?

Thanks.

    Some more testing ...

This MAY be related to the MIDI crosstalk bug that's being discussed around the forum.

Using a single synth / single output (ie not a multi-out multi-channel synth) I can't create the problem easily (there are always some issues with hung notes in Sonar anyway).

So this appears to be related to multi-out/multi-channel synths.

    To be continued ...  ;)

I can't reproduce with hardware synths, single-channel soft-synths like TruePianos or the multi-channel JABB. Piano sustains are stopped normally in all cases.

The crosstalk bug relates to MIDI input, so I don't that would be relevant, either. Something else going on in your config, or maybe with Kontakt or those patches, specifically.

If it has to do with Kontakt or the patches, why does it work in 8.5.3 properly?

    I guess it's time to do a video ;)

    Ok here's 2 videos.

First is in X1 ... I hit play, then stop, then play (you'll see the  timeline stop/go).

Second is the same project brought into 8.5.3 doing the same thing - but it works properly.   The difference in sound is just because 8.5.3 doesn't have the Pro Channel (which should make no difference for this).

    1st one:

    http://ba-midi.com/Tests/X1_CC64.mov

    2nd one:

    http://ba-midi.com/Tests/S853_CC64.mov

This doesn't seem to be a kontakt/patch problem to me!

Notice I'm purposely stopping when there is CC64 data (on) to prove the point as to how X1 and 8.5.3 handle this differently.

Looking at the vids, this seems more like a problem with stopping notes that haven't ended yet (i.e. Note Off note sent), rather than being held by CC64. In the X1 vid, the last stop appears to be after a Pedal Up controller, but the notes continue ringing because they haven't hit the note off.

It's still a problem, obviously, but it my not have anything to do with Zero Controllers.

To know for sure, I'd want to see a couple of long isolated notes, one with pedal up before the end of the note, and one with pedal up after the note-off. Then stop the transport in between the pedal up and the note-off in both cases (though in the opposite order in the second case)

If it's  CC64 problem, the second note will keep ringing, but the first won't, and vice versa if it's a Note Off problem.
